Insane! That’s the word I want to use for the pricing and road presence of the Lexus LX500d. It’s enormous, towers over everything else, and announces your arrival in the best possible way. Then, there is Lexus’s indestructible, bulletproof reliability and go-anywhere capability. Lavish, luxurious, and comfortable - the LX is what the cream layer of Indian buyers want and deserve.

Pros & Cons of Lexus LX

• What we admire in this car

  • Road presence : the LX is XXXL sized and looks enormous
  • Bullet proof reliability and indestructible : unbeatable peace of mind
  • Creamy smooth V6 diesel that sounds great and is efficient for a beast SUV
  • Overall comfort levels - huge seats, good ride quality
  • Brand recall - the Lexus brand feels at home in the Rs 2 crore + segment
  • Kit on offer : multiple screens, ventilated rear seats, soft close doors (powered), air suspension etc

• What could have been better

  • Way too expensive : you can purchase two Mercedes GLS for the price
  • No third row of seats : most rivals offer this at half the price
  • Limited 2nd row space : given this is a 2 row SUV, we expected more space in the 2nd row
  • Surprise omission of features - example, no powered rear window curtain, no panoramic sunroof etc
  • Limited network as compared to German rivals
