The 125cc scooter market offers a wide range of options, featuring major brands like Hero, Honda, TVS, Yamaha, and Suzuki. Some manufacturers focus on providing reliable family scooters, while others emphasize sporty designs, and some aim to combine the best elements of both. Recently, one scooter in this crowded segment received a substantial update: the Hero Destini 125. Launched in 2024, the revamped Hero Destini has seen several improvements. Ive had the opportunity to ride the new Hero Destini 125 in our long-term garage for the past few weeks.

I am using the scooter in the city for daily grocery runs, commuting to the office, and handling other errands. The Destini has proven to be a reliable companion for these rides. It is a well-equipped and practical family scooter. The latest update features a new design, improved ergonomics, and a more refined engine. Retro Charm With Modern Touch

Hero Destini 125

The new design language gives the Destini a retro charm while offering modern elements. The updated headlamp and apron design enhance the scooters overall appearance. The H-shaped LED daytime running lights and bronze accents on the apron and rearview mirrors look attractive. On the side, the sleek body panel featuring the Destini 125 badge is visually appealing, and the streamlined rear taillight and bulging turn signals complement the design nicely. A notable addition is the new pillion backrest support, which not only enhances comfort but also adds to the scooter's aesthetic.

Ride Quality, Braking & Comfort

Since the day I got the scooter, I've been in love with the comfort and ride quality it offers. The suspension is tuned to handle all city undulations, and the ride quality is truly commendable. Being on the softer side, the suspension feels a bit bouncy at high speeds, but at city speeds, it glides over bumps effortlessly. The 12-inch wheels offer better grip and stability compared to the previous 10-inch ones.

The seat is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate both the rider and the pillion, providing ample room to move. The cushioning is soft and comfortable. As a person who is 5'10" tall, I find there is plenty of legroom between the seat and the apron, and the riding posture is neutral and comfortable. The scooter is designed to fit riders of all sizes without any discomfort. Hero has done an excellent job of creating a long and comfortable seat.

Brakes are another important aspect when you ride a scooter or vehicle. The braking duties on the Destini 125 are handled by front disc and rear drum brakes. The initial impression will feel soft, but once you put more pressure on the brake is enough to offer you good stopping power. However, the brakes are not the sharpest in the segment, but the Combined Braking System (CBS) enhances confidence.

Features

The Destini 125 may not have many features like a big coloured display, but it offers a segment-first advantage. It comes with a digital instrument console that includes Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and alerts for calls and SMS. Additionally, it is equipped with projector LED headlamps and auto-cancel turn signals, which are also a first for the segment. These features are useful for daily commutes. While I haven't yet used the turn-by-turn navigation, it seems like a valuable addition for riders.

Engine & Performance

The Destini is powered by a 124.6cc engine producing 9 bhp of power and 10.4 Nm of peak torque. This engine is one of the most refined and silent engines in the segment. The power it offers is sufficient for all your daily runs, and the mid-range is decent, and it easily gains speed up to 60 kmph. While you can push it beyond that speed, its high-range performance is not as impressive. The scooter is designed primarily for relaxed riding rather than aggressive maneuvers. If you stick to a comfortable city speed of 50-60 km/h, it will provide a satisfying riding experience.

The scooter gets a 5.3-liter fuel tank, providing a range of 200 km on a full tank. While the claimed fuel economy is 59 kmpl, if you ride at a normal speed of 50 to 60 kmph, you can expect to achieve around 45 to 50 kmpl.

The brand has ensured that the scooter offers the most comfort in its segment. his scooter will ensure that everyone in your family enjoys their ride.
