This SUV is currently available with two turbo-petrol engine options. The first is a 1.0L three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which we have seen in the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. It produces 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The second, and more interesting option, is a 1.3L four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that puts out 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT (wet clutch). The all-new Duster is available in a total of six variants, and let's check which variant gets which engine and gearbox.

Variant Recommendation
For most buyers, the Techno variant stands out as the best value-for-money option. It strikes a strong balance between price and equipment, offering key premium features like a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, and connected tech, while still being accessible with both engine options. It's also the last trim to offer the 1.0L turbo, making it a practical pick for budget-conscious buyers.
However, if your priority is performance and a more premium experience, the Techno Plus variant makes more sense. It exclusively gets the more powerful 1.3L turbo engine and adds meaningful upgrades in safety, driving assistance, and cabin quality, making it a more complete package.
For those who want everything the Duster has to offer, the Iconic variant is the one to go for. It's fully loaded with top-tier features and offers the most refined experience, but comes at a significant premium.

Verdict
The new Renault Duster makes a strong comeback with a well-rounded package that blends practicality, performance, and modern features. It offers a wide variant spread, multiple powertrain choices, and a noticeable upgrade in both design and equipment over its predecessor.
While it may miss out on certain elements like a diesel engine or AWD for now, it still manages to stand out as a versatile SUV that caters to both everyday family use and enthusiasts seeking a punchy turbo-petrol experience. Overall, the Duster feels more mature, better equipped, and ready to take on the segment once again.
