Did you hear the news? Ola electric scooter launch could happen in a matter of a few months time. Read more to learn more!

The automobile sector in India has been witnessing a surge in demand for electric vehicles as a result of the initiatives taken up by the government. The Indian Government has focused on implementing new schemes and making amendments to the current automobile policies. In addition to this, it has started providing subsidies to automakers and customers in order to boost the already rising demand for EVs. It has been announced that India would become an EV hub by the year 2030.

Many IC vehicle manufacturers have already introduced premium electric vehicles in the country that have a range of 300km/charge. Also, the transport department of many states like Kerala and Gujarat have already adopted EV infrastructure and electric air-conditioned buses. At this phase of EV growth, it is only natural for automakers, technology firms and delivery logistics to try a hand in the EV business. One such mobility firm that stepped up into the EV business is Ola.

Earlier this year, Ola had announced that they would enter into the EV business of India with their highly anticipated electric scooter. However, no further confirmation was acquired by EV enthusiasts. Not anymore since, the Chairman and CEO of the Ola group, Bhavish Aggarwal tweeted asking for which colour options would the customers like to see on the scooter. This could be a hint that the launch of its electric scooter is not far from happening.

The Ola electric scooter is based on the Etergo Appscooter platform that is likely to provide a range of around 100-150km at a single charge. The new Ola electric scooter could get features like swappable lithium-ion batteries, cloud connectivity, a fully digital instrument cluster, alloy wheels with telescopic suspension in the front.

Ola had previously announced that its Ola future factory is being constructed with an initial investment of Rs.2,400 crore. The automaker has announced that the factory will be functioning and ready to begin the first phase of operation in the coming months. It is believed that the manufacturing unit could produce job opportunities for over 200 people in the initial stages and 10,000 people as the unit fully starts its operation. Ola stated that it would take around 10 million man-hours to complete this unit.

Ola also has plans to unveil its 'Hypercharger Network' which would become the world's largest EV charging network. The network is said to cater to the manufacturer's upcoming electric two-wheelers. Under the 'Hyperchrager network', different charging options will be provided to Ola EV customers such as a high-speed hypercharger. Home chargers will also be offered as standard with Ola E-scooters.
