In a sudden and unexpected move, Aprilia has developed a new, more powerful variant of the SR Series - the SR 175, this sporty scooter has even reached some dealerships and is most likely to launch in July month. Apart from a bigger engine, this scooter is equipped with a new TFT display, which resembles a lot with the Tuono 457 and RS 457. Aprilia SR 175
To begin with its front profile, it's completely identical to the SR 160 - featuring LED headlamps and a sharp-angle shroud featuring halogen turn indicators and its distinctive angular design. The front suspension is the same as before - telescopic - and the tyre profile is the same - 120/70/R14 with disc brakes and ABS. The side profile is again the same - featuring a single seat that appears like split seats because of the angle. Moreover, the biggest change visible is the 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity. Now, this is the same screen also used in the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457.
Talking about the rear profile, this is again identical to the SR 160 - featuring a chunky and upright grab handle, and X-shaped LED tail-lamps. Rear twin-shock telescopic suspensions are the same - as well as the overall body. Even the rear tyre section has the same profile as the front. Mechanically, it's a new product with a 174.7 cc 3-valve engine producing 12.92 hp and 14.14 Nm of torque. Lastly, it will be available in vibrant shades, and as of now - we have seen two paint options - one through this walkaround video and one through the Aprilia India page.
Lastly, the pricing would be somewhere around Rs 1.45 lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh ex-showroom, considering the asking price of the SR 160. Moreover, upon launch, this will be the first-ever mass-market scooter with a 175cc engine, and it might end up replacing the SR 160.

Verdict
Aprilia is ready to hit the ball out of the park with the SR 175. The SR 160 is unbelievably fast and can still handle speeds upwards of 120 km/h - God knows how lethal the SR 175 will be. Moreover, this scooter might replace the 160, and upon launch, it will be the first mass-market scooter to offer such immense power. As of now, it is projected to launch in July.
