Not much has changed when it comes to the design of the Trident 660; it retains the same neo-retro approach, but it now gets new paint schemes on offer, such as Cosmic Yellow, Cobalt Blue, and Diablo Red, all with Sapphire Black treatment. Everything else remains identical in terms of the Trident 660's design.

In terms of equipment, the Trident 660 now comes with electronic rider aids as standard, such as a six-axis IMU, cruise control, cornering ABS, traction control, and a bi-directional quickshifter. In addition to the Road and Rain ride modes, Triumph has now added a new 'Sport' ride mode, which should churn out some more performance from the three-cylinder powertrain.

Speaking of the powertrain, it remains identical to the outgoing motorcycle; a 660cc, liquid-cooled, three-cylinder unit, producing 81bhp at 10,250rpm, and 64Nm of torque at 6250rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. In terms of hardware, while many things remain familiar, the front forks have now been upgraded to 41mm Showa SFF big-piston units, which continue to be non-adjustable. The rear monoshock receives pre-load adjustability. It also retains Michelin Road 5 tyres, along with the Nissin brakes; 310mm twin-discs with dual-piston sliding callipers up front, along with a 255mm disc with a single-piston sliding calliper at the rear.

The Trident 660 goes up directly against the Honda CB650R E-Clutch, which is priced at Rs 8.64 lakh. With the set of upgrades, we can expect a small bump in the Trident 660's pricing.

Verdict

The Trident 660 has not changed much, but the upgrades it receives are substantial enough to make it a threat against its direct rivals. We can expect the Tiger Sport 800 to feature a similar set of updates when it comes.
