KTM 390 Adventure X Phased Out; X 'Plus' Coming Soon

As per an online source, the KTM has stopped taking the bookings of the KTM 390 Adventure X, which is now going to be replaced by a more equippes, Adventure X 'Plus' trim. The most significant upgrade for the 390 Adventure X Plus will be the inclusion of an IMU-based electronics package, directly inherited from the standard KTM 390 Adventure. This advanced suite brings crucial safety and performance enhancements, including switchable Cornering ABS and switchable Cornering Traction Control. Furthermore, riders will gain greater control across varied conditions thanks to the introduction of three dedicated ride modes: Street, Rain, and Off-Road. These additions aim to provide a more refined and secure riding experience, especially for those venturing beyond paved roads.

In terms of chassis and running gear, the 390 Adventure X Plus will retain its road-biased touring character, continuing to ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. While it won't inherit the adjustable suspension found on the standard 390 Adventure, the existing stock setup is well-regarded for striking a commendable balance between comfort and dynamic handling. The overall robust chassis and distinctive bodywork remain consistent with the current lineup, potentially with some fresh paint schemes to mark its arrival.

No Tweaks To Mechanicals
Underneath, the core powertrain remains unchanged. The 390 Adventure X Plus will be propelled by the familiar 399cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This robust mill delivers 45.3bhp at 8500rpm and 39Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. Power will continue to be managed by a smooth 6-speed gearbox, complemented by a convenient bi-directional quickshifter for seamless gear changes.
The X Plus is expected to carry a premium of around Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 over its predecessor, offering better value for riders seeking top-tier electronic aids without the full price of the standard 390 Adventure.
Verdict
Despite a modest expected price increase, the upcoming Adventure X Plus is strategically positioned to deliver a superior value proposition. By incorporating a more comprehensive suite of features, it offers an enhanced package without encroaching on the premium pricing territory of the top-spec 390 Adventure. This move will elevate the overall mass appeal of the relatively accessible 390 ADV's lower trim.
