Bajaj’s entry-level naked sportster appears to be getting its biggest feature upgrade in years, with a colour TFT screen and branded suspension in the frame.
Bajaj has been quietly reworking the Pulsar family for the past couple of months, and the NS160 looks like the next bike to go through the process. A test mule was recently photographed on the road with no camouflage, and a few clear changes stand out.

What’s new on the Test Bike

Instrument cluster: The biggest change is a rectangular TFT display replacing the current setup. It looks like the same unit Bajaj has been fitting across its refreshed Pulsar models, so similar features are likely: smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation mirroring, and on-screen storage for documents.
Switchgear: The handlebar controls have been redone. The left side has a directional pad for navigating the display, and the right side carries red-accented switches. A pad like this usually means more menu options and ride settings than the current bike offers.
Front suspension: The USD forks now carry WP branding. The NS160 already uses 37 mm upside-down forks, so this is a component upgrade rather than a new layout. WP forks were also spotted on the updated NS200 test bike, which suggests Bajaj is making this a common upgrade across the NS range.
Design: Nothing has changed here. The test bike is finished in black with red highlights and keeps the NS160’s muscular tank, angular tank extensions, split seats, rear grab rails, alloy wheels, and underbelly exhaust.
Will it get Rider Aids?
This is unconfirmed. Bajaj has been adding riding modes, traction control, and an intelligent throttle to some recent Pulsar variants. The spy pictures don’t show whether the NS160 will get any of them, or whether they’ll be limited to a top variant.
Mechanicals: What to expect
There’s no sign of any change to the engine, so the current numbers are the best guide:
Specification | Current NS160 |
|---|---|
Engine | 160.3 cc, oil-cooled, twin-spark, 4-valve, fuel-injected |
Power | 17 PS at 9,000 rpm |
Torque | 14.6 Nm at 7,250 rpm |
Front brake | 300 mm disc |
Rear brake | 230 mm disc |
ABS | Dual-channel |
Rear suspension | Nitrox monoshock |
Tyres | 100/80 front, 130/70 rear (17-inch, tubeless) |
Kerb weight | 152 kg |
Fuel tank | 12 litres |
Part of a Bigger Pulsar Refresh
The NS160 is the latest in a series of updates. Bajaj launched the N160 S and SS in August, followed by new-generation Pulsar 125 and 150 models. The NS400Z has since received a TFT variant, and the updated N250 SS, with a six-speed gearbox and a sports shifter, has reached dealerships. Test bikes of the NS200, NS125, and RS200 have also been seen recently.

Price and launch
Bajaj hasn’t announced a launch date or pricing. The NS160 currently starts at Rs 1,26,301 (ex-showroom, Delhi). With a TFT display and upgraded suspension, a price increase over the current model looks likely.
