Hero Vida VX2 Coming In Two Variants;

Hero MotoCorp's electric vehicle arm, Vida, is all set to expand its portfolio with the launch of the Hero Vida VX2 electric scooter in India on July 1st. Positioned as an entry-level offering, the VX2 is expected to come with a competitive price tag, likely starting under Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom) for its base variant. Visually, the VX2 breaks from the Vida V2's dual-tone aesthetic, opting for a palette of seven bold mono-tone shades. Recent teasers have already showcased White, Red, and Blue options, with Yellow, Orange, Black, and Grey also confirmed to be part of the vibrant lineup.
New details reveal the VX2 will be available in two distinct variants: Go and Plus, differentiated by their battery capacities and corresponding range. The 'Go' variant will feature a 2.2kWh removable battery, while the 'Plus' trim will boast a larger 3.4kWh pack, cleverly configured with two swappable batteries for added convenience. Though official range figures are yet to be fully disclosed, the 'Go' variant is anticipated to deliver an approximate range of around 100km on a single charge.
Test Mule Hints At More Details

The recently spotted undisguised test mule of the Vida VX2 offers a closer look at what to expect from Hero's upcoming electric scooter. One of the notable elements is its compact instrument cluster, which appears to be a smaller TFT unit. This setup suggests a more cost-conscious approach compared to the larger display found on the Vida V1. Interestingly, the presence of a physical key slot indicates that the VX2 will not offer keyless operation, at least in its base variants. Despite these signs of budget-oriented engineering, higher trims of the VX2 are still likely to feature essential connectivity options. Basic Bluetooth functions, including turn-by-turn navigation, are expected to be available to enhance daily usability. While the overall feature set may lean toward simplicity, the VX2 seems poised to balance affordability with functionality, targeting value-conscious urban riders looking for a practical EV solution.
This strategic placement will put it in direct competition with popular rivals such as the Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 Air, Ather 450S, and the TVS iQube. As for its pricing, it is likely to start just shy of Rs 1 lakh ex-showroom.
Verdict
Hero Vida VX2 is going to distrupt the electric scooter space with its affrodability and backing of a reputed and well connected manufacturing house. This becomes even more crucial considering the explosion of sales of electric 2-wheelers and the persistent issues with one of the leading rival house, where the segment is looking towards some other better alternatives. Considering the experience of Hero in affordable commuter segment, the competitors will be closely monitoring this new entrant and its after effects.
