The Indian Utility Vehicle Giant - Mahindra has finally unveiled the new-generation Mahindra Thar on August 15, 2020. It was a proud moment for us as the UV maker unveiled this Iconic SUV on Independence Day. We were also a part of Mahindra's Freedom Drive with the new Thar on 15th August and we got a chance to experience this SUV on the roads of Gurugram. The new-generation Mahindra Thar is all set to launch on October 2, 2020. Now, ahead of its official launch, the company has announced that the First 2020 Mahindra Thar will be auctioned for a charitable cause. Here are some more details about it.
The company has announced that the first all-new 2020 Mahindra Thar #1 will be auctioned to raise funds for a charitable cause. The funds will be donated to select charitable organisations supporting COVID-19 relief work. The registration for the online auction is already open and the bidding will be held between September 24 - 27, 2020. This auction will be conducted by Mahindra First Choice Wheels (MFCW) and will be hosted on the NDTV CarandBike's auction engine. The registrations are open for all and the prospective bidders will have to put down a refundable caution deposit. This entire bidding process will be conducted by Ernst and Young.
Mahindra has announced that the fortunate one lucky buyer will not only have the chance to own the coveted all-new Thar #1 but will also contribute towards a noble cause related to COVID-19 relief work. This one of its kind new Mahindra Thar will come emblazoned with the Thar #1 badge which will distinguish the owner as the very first one. Some other exclusive and distinguishing features on this all-new 2020 Mahindra Thar #1 will include customized badging on the vehicle. It will also carry serial number '1' on the decorative plate on the vehicle's dashboard and its leatherette seats.

Mahindra says that the winning bidder can choose his/her all-new Thar from five different variants and six different colour options. Also, Mahindra will match the amount raised at the auction and the entire amount will be donated to a charitable organization supporting COVID-19 relief work. The winning bidder can also select the charitable organisation as per his choice between Naandi Foundation, Swades Foundation and PM Cares Fund. Announcing the commencement of online registration for the All-New Thar #1 auction, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto & Farm Sectors, M&M Ltd. said "As we approach the start of booking for the All-New Thar on 2nd October, we expect a lot of interest and excitement to get the first one booked. The first All-New Thar #1, a coveted piece, will hence be auctioned to the highest bidder with the proceeds going to a COVID-19 related charitable cause. Mahindra will donate an amount equal to the proceeds from the auction to the same charity. There's no doubt that the best way to own the first Thar is to donate to a COVID charity by bidding online."
