BYD launched the Seal in India on March 5, 2024, as its third passenger vehicle after the E6 MPV and Atto 3 crossover. The bookings for the Seal electric sedan started on the day of its launch itself. All customers who booked the BYD Seal before March 31, 2024, also received benefits like free home charger installation, a 6-year roadside assistance program, and a 3kW charging box. Additionally, all the buyers of BYD Seal are being offered a standard warranty of 8 years/1.6 lakh km on the battery and 8 years/1.5 lakh km on the motor and its controller unit.

The BYD Seal is currently the only all-electric sedan under Rs 60 lakh, where it competes with electric SUVs and crossovers like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, BMW iX1, and Volvo XC40 Recharge. The next all-electric sedan currently on sale in India after the BYD Seal is the BMW i4, which starts at Rs 72.50 lakh.

Verdict
Given that all-electric sedan options are negligible in its category, the BYD Seal offers a unique proposition at its price point a truth reflected in the positive response to its bookings. Most customers are attracted by the premium tech and the long list of features in the BYD Seal. However, given the positive response, the prices of the BYD Seal might go up soon in India.
