Made In India Tata Nexon EV Accounts For Up to 61% Of Market Shares

With the rising trend of electric vehicles and newer technologies coming in, it is quite affordable to an EV nowadays. Currently, India has three electric SUVs for private buyers and those are Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai Kona and MG ZS EV. There's an upcoming, Mercedes EQC400 but that will be an expensive affair. In this article, we will be sharing with you how the Tata Nexon acquired 61% of the EV market share in such a short time.

The below table shows the sales figure on a monthly basis from April till September 2020.

As you can see from the table above, the sales for the month of April were 0 as the whole country was in a strict lockdown. The sales started to pick from May and all-electric SUVs achieved a good amount of share in the Indian market by September.

Sharing more deeds on the made in India electric SUV, the Tata Nexon EV then it gets a battery pack of 30.2 kWh which makes generous power of 129 PS and a peak torque of 245 Nm. The torque figure is more than the petrol engine but slightly lower than the oil burner.

Coming to its performance then Tata claims that 0-100 km/h spring in the Nexon EV can be well achieved in just 9.99 seconds. Also, it takes only 60 minutes to juice up its battery when connected with a DC fast charger. Tata Motors also provides a home charger when you purchase the SUV and it takes a good 8 hours to charge the battery.

The claimed range of Nexon EV is 312 km only but the pricing is more affordable than its rivals. It starts at a price of Rs 13.99 lakh and rises up as high till Rs 15.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It is available in three variants - XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX.
