After several speculations, Suzuki Motorcycle & Scooter India has finally teased their upcoming scooter, and yet its not the Burgman EV.
Suzuki Motorcycles & Scooters India just released a small 15-second teaser video of their upcoming scooter. And unlike several speculations, it is not an electric scooter, the Burgman EV, in particular. The Japanese automaker has been teasing a new scooter for the Indian auto market since November 9, and many speculated that it would be an EV. Spy shots of the same had also cemented that into belief in some. But now that the teaser images are out, we can say for sure that the new Suzuki Scooter is clearly not an EV.
This new scooter has been designed keeping in mind the urban crowd, the Gen Z in particular. It has a Sporty Styling which is an inspiration from Motorcycle. The front fascia gets looks sharper with the single triangular headlamp unit. Theres a dual-tone colour option on the front apron. The rear fascia gets a new twin triangular LED tail lamp that is positioned above the turn signal. The exhaust pipe gets a distinct design finished in black, so expect a good grunt like the TVS NTorq. The instrument cluster is fully digitalised, that seems to have been carried from the Gixxer.
Provided Suzuki has not been working on any new engine as such for this market; the new scooter could also get the same 125 cc engine shared with the Burgman 125 and Access 125 in its line-up. The 124 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine produces 8.58 bhp and 19 Nm of torque. UIt comes mated to a CVT gearbox.
It will be priced above the Suzuki Access. When released, it will have quite the competition. The segment is populated by the likes of the TVS NTorq, Activa 125, the Jupiter 125, and Aprilia SR125 as well. If you really want that sporty feeling. Yamaha has also released the Aerox 155., although thats another segment. Since Suzuki claims that the new scooter is suited for GenZ, this generation also gets privy to quite the exciting range of offers.
