After the amazing response from buyers of the Rapid TSI, Skoda India is now prepping up to launch the Skoda Rapid AT on September 17. The Skoda Rapid AT will share its powertrain with the Polo AT and Vento AT and it will use the Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter gearbox. One can book the Rapid TSI AT either online or from a dealership by paying a sum of Rs 25,000.
Skoda India got a great response from the Rapid TSI and the showstopper was the Rapid Rider. The bare bone variant was priced very attractively and the TSI engine was a steal at that price. Given the immense response, the Czech carmaker had to stop bookings for the Rider variant and later launched the Rider Plus. To further reinforce the sales of the Rapid, Skoda India is now coming up with the Rapid AT.

The bookings for the same were opened one month before and one can book the Rapid AT either from dealerships or from Skoda India website. Volkswagen has already launched the Vento AT with the Highline Plus trim and that was priced at Rs 13.39 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. The price difference between the Vento Highline Plus MT and Highline Plus AT is around Rs 1.31 lakh. Skoda will price the Rapid AT lower than the Vento AT and we expect a premium of Rs 1 lakh over the manual Rapid.

Talking about the engine specifications, the Rapid TSI comes with a 1.0-litre three-pot TSI engine which churns out 110 PS and 175 Nm of peak torque. The Rapid will get the Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque convertor gearbox which is also used in the Polo and Vento AT. Skoda Rapid AT offers a claimed fuel economy of 16.24 km/l. Skoda also claims that the new 1.0-litre TSI engine offers 5% more power, 14% more torque and 9% more fuel efficiency over the older 1.6-litre MPI unit. The launch of the Skoda Rapid AT is scheduled on September 17, 11:00 AM.
