
Mahindra Automotive was the pioneer brand in India to come its electric specific brand - Mahindra Electric. We saw multiple electric cars from Mahindra Electric like the e2O, e-Verito and even Reva for that matter. Today, on the first World EV day, Mahindra has announced its MESMA electric platform which is both advanced and scalable. Let's dive right in to understand what this platform brings on the table.

Mahindra Electric aims to offer global competitive quality at an affordable cost. The platform is already powering over 11,000 EVs on the Indian roads. The MESMA 48 platform is ultra modular and can be used in three-wheelers, quadricycles and compact cars. If we talk about the features of this unique platform, Mahindra Electric claims that it can range from 6 kW to 40 kW. Moreover, Mahindra Electric claims a better acceleration than ICE cars and the powertrain supports both air cooling and liquid cooling.

The MESMA platform of Mahindra Electric uses cost efficient, highly robust, temperature tolerant LFP cells and high energy density NMC cells which can match the performance, range, price and environment requirements of a wide set of customers. The platform also complies with all the charging protocols issued. The whole platform has been designed by a highly experienced group of engineers from India and all the components are sourced from India except for the battery cells.

Mahindra claims that their EVs have crossed over 234 million km on Indian roads and more EVs will also come with the same platform. The MESMA platform is compatible with both rigid and flexible axles and is also suitable for L5, L6 and L7 category. The MESMA platform will be available in a range of platforms such as MESMA 48, MESMA 72 and MESMA 350, all catering to a different category of vehicles. Mahindra has announced the MESMA 48 platform on the occasion of World EV day.
