Taigun Old Vs New: Volkswagen India has officially announced the prices of the updated Taigun, with the mid-size SUV now starting at Rs 10.999 lakh (ex-showroom). Beside the price reveal, the brand has rolled out multiple updates across the lineup that includes changes to features and equipment in the base variant.

Taigun Old Vs New: Exterior Update

The updated version of the Taigun follows a more modern design philosophy featuring a sleeker front profile and a more commanding road presence. The Comfortline variants get LED headlamps, DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), a slim chrome stripe at the front, and a blacked-out grille with chrome inserts.

From the sides it remains familiar to its previous version featuring roof rails, wheel arch cladding, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs, moreover, it gets steel wheels with plastic covers. At the rear, the SUV features Infinity LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators, that add a modern touch to its design. Additionally, It also gets a rear fog lamp, defogger, and a rear wiper with washer for improved visibility. Parking sensors are also included at the rear, enhancing everyday usability specially for new drivers. 

On the other hand the previous Taigun carries a clean and bold SUV design language, defined by sharp character lines, a wide stance. The earlier Taigun retains the similar exterior elements as before, including Infinity LED tail lamps, functional roof rails, signature trapezoidal chrome accents at the front and rear and ORVMs with integrated LED turn indicators. There are no major changes on the exterior front with the updated Taigun, with subtle styling and touches that enhance the overall appearance of the car. 

Taigun Old Vs New: Engine and Powertrain

Mechanically the Updated Taigun remains similar to its previous version. The Comfortline continues to carry a 1.0 L TSI, 6-speed manual transmission, producing 115 PS power and 178 Nm of torque. 

Similarly, the earlier base version of the Taigun comes with a similar mechanical package. No changes in the engine setup.

Taigun Old Vs New: Safety Update

The updated Volkswagen Taigun has not altered the safety measures with Comfortline. It features an advanced safety package with front, side, and curtain airbags, along with electronic stability control, ABS, EBD, multi-collision braking, anti-slip regulation, electronic differential lock, brake assist, and disc wiping. Moreover, it gets tyre pressure deflation warning, rear seatbelt reminders, and rear parking sensors for improved safety coverage. In comparison, the earlier Comfortline was more basic, offering front dual airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and tyre pressure warning. All in all the new Taigun offers a better safety package and provides better occupant protection than the previous model.

Price and value proportion

The Volkswagen Taigun Comfortline is now priced at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the new model, while the earlier version was positioned slightly lower at about Rs 10.70-10.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Though the price gap is marginal, the new Comfortline clearly offers a better overall package with added safety and features, which makes it a better option compared to the older model.
