Renault Bridger To Use A 1.2L Turbo Petrol Engine

The Renault bridger concept has already been revealed and is one of the most aspirational project which will enter the sub-4 meter category. Now more info has emerged about this upcoming model, hinting at what it could offer. The petrol-powered Renault Bridger will be using a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. While official specifications are yet to be confirmed, this unit could be similar to Renault's global 1.2L TCe engine seen on models like the Renault Clio. This three-cylinder engine produces around 115 hp and 190 Nm of torque in international applications. A similar setup could be offered on the Bridger, making it competitive against turbo-petrol rivals in the segment.
The Bridger will be based on Renault's RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform), which also underpins the new-generation Renault Duster. Positioned in the highly competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment, the Bridger will take on rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and others. With turbo-petrol power on offer, Renault Bridger will have enough punch to keep the buyers content pertaining to this segment.

Electric Version Too In Works
Renault is also planning a fully electric version of the Renault Bridger, which could become the brand's first EV for the Indian market. While detailed specifications are yet to be revealed, the EV is expected to feature battery packs of up to around 45 kWh. The claimed range could be close to 450- 500 km under ideal conditions, with real-world figures likely to be lower. Features such as DC fast charging, standard AC charging, regenerative braking, and even Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality are likely to be part of the package. Once launched, it will compete with electric SUVs like the Tata Nexon EV and upcoming EV offerings in the segment.

With a combination of turbo-petrol performance and an upcoming electric version, it offers flexibility that aligns well with evolving Indian market demands. If Renault manages to price it competitively while delivering a strong feature set, the Bridger has the potential to emerge as a serious contender in both the ICE and EV compact SUV space.
