Mercedes-AMG is going to launch the "53" AMG model range in India for the first time. The "53" AMG models bridge the gap between the "43" and lunatic "63" models. This time around, we are getting the GLE 53 Coupe which was launched worldwide last year. The bookings of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe are now open and the launch is slated for 23rd September!

The previous generation of the GLE Coupe was available in India with 43 AMG guise. With the second generation, we are getting the GLE 53 Coupe which also sports hybrid assist. Moving to the heart of the matter, the GLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre straight-6 bi-turbo petrol engine which produces 435hp and 520 Nm of peak torque. The EQ boost hybrid assists the engine with 22hp and 250 Nm of torque while acceleration runs. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and the power is channelled to all four wheels via the 4matic+ all-wheel-drive system. The GLE 53 Coupe with the straight-6 engine replaces the old GLE 43 Coupe's V6 petrol engine. Talking about the performance, the claimed 0-100 time of the 53 models is 5.3 seconds and the top whack is limited to 250 km/h.

The interiors of the GLE 53 Coupe are luxurious and sporty. Like every other Mercedes, we get twin screens paired in one single frame which sits on the dash. The bespoke flat-bottomed steering wheel gets touch controls and paddle shifters at the back. The lower part of the steering wheel gets a rotary touch control for drive modes and on the other side, we have controls for exhaust and traction control. The dashboard is similar to the regular GLE Coupe but gets sportier inserts. The lower part of the dashboard gets carbon-fibre finishing.
