Tata marked its entry into the premium hatchback segment with the Altroz and needless to say, the sales of January hit on a right note. Now, the sales are not fairly close to the Maruti and Hyundai dominance in the market but it sets its position right.

Tata Altroz is the only car in its segment to get 5-star Global NCAP ratings. And what's interesting is the pricing of the hatchback. It sets its price at Rs 5.29 lakh and gets BS6 petrol and diesel engines. It comes with features up to the brim.

On the inside, Tata Altroz packs a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system from Harmon Kardon. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, cruise control and among other features.

The Altroz comes in a 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel engine. It is the former which comprises most of the sales unit. The 1.2L unit is derived from Tiago which produces 83 bhp along with 114 Nm of peak torque. As of now, Altroz is not available with any automatic transmission so it continues with a 5-speed manual for both petrol and diesel engine.

Safety features on the premium hatchback include dual airbags, Antilock Braking System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, ISOFIX mount child seats and more. It's competition, Elite i20 packs 6 airbags for the top end trim but it is the Altroz which receives higher Global NCAP ratings.
