Last Updated on 4th Apr'25: Most affordable 440 cc motorcycle in India, continues to sell without receiving any new updates. That said, in 2024, we reported that Maverick 440 Scrambler design has been patented and Hero might launch it soon, but no further updates have been received on that front.
One of the most affordable bikes above 400cc in India, the Maverick 440 is Hero’s flagship motorcycle. It’s a versatile bike, suitable for both city rides and light off-road adventures. Its oil-cooled engine produces 27 bhp and 36 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. In terms of features, it offers over 35 connected features and is known for its superior performance.

The Hero Mavrick 440 appears to be gearing up for a comeback as fresh spy shots surfaced online showing what seems to be an updated version of the motorcycle being filmed for a television commercial. A clear sign that Hero MotoCorp is preparing to relaunch the bike with some key cosmetic and feature updates on the lines of the Harley X440, something that was earlier showcased at the Bharat Mobility Show.
Hero MotoCorp's most premium motorcycle offering, the Hero Mavrick 440, is headed for a refresh, and recent numbers make that abundantly clear. After being showcased in an updated avatar at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the current version has seen a sharp drop in both production and sales.
Hero Motorcycles has silently axed its most premium bike to date, the Hero Mavrick 440, as per recent reports, is off production and also not accounting for any sales for the last few months. This is one of the most potent bike from the manufacturer and was also showcased with updates at the Auto Expo and the EICMA last year.
Hero MotoCorp unveiled a range of new motorcycles at EICMA 2024, that attracted a lot of eyeballs. Alongside these models, Hero also showcased an updated version of the Mavrick 440, which features several improvements found on its Harley-Davidson X440 counterpart.
The company has recently filed and got the Mavrick 440 Scrambler name trademarked which hints at the arrival of the Scrambler version of the Mavrick 440. The upcoming motorcycle is expected to feature an all new design language and a differently tuned engine as well.
