The Hero Mavrick 440 appears to be gearing up for a comeback as fresh spy shots surfaced online showing what seems to be an updated version of the motorcycle being filmed for a television commercial. A clear sign that Hero MotoCorp is preparing to relaunch the bike with some key cosmetic and feature updates on the lines of the Harley X440, something that was earlier showcased at the Bharat Mobility Show. Let's take a closer look at the new updates that this very ambitious but previously sluggish in sales model brings this time around, in a bid to turn around its fate. Hero Mavrick X440 Updates At The Relaunch- What The Spy Shots Reveal

The most noticeable change in the spied Hero Mavrick 440 is the addition of a gold-finished USD fork, replacing the conventional telescopic unit seen on the outgoing model. This gives the Mavrick 440 a much more premium and muscular stance, aligning it closer to what enthusiasts expect from a mid-capacity roadster. The test unit also appears to sport a new matte grey paint scheme, contrasting against the earlier glossy finish, along with a bronze or copper engine cover that replaces the previous black casing. These subtle touches add a sense of sophistication and visual distinction to the updated Mavrick.

While the spy visuals do not reveal every detail, the upcoming model seems to share several design elements with the updated Mavrick 440 showcased at EICMA 2024 and later at Auto Expo 2025. That version featured a circular TFT instrument cluster, likely borrowed from the Harley-Davidson X440, offering Bluetooth connectivity with navigation, music, and call alerts. It's unclear whether this production-ready version will include the same digital display, but given Hero's push toward tech-rich offerings in the premium space, the inclusion with exact replication seems highly likely.
Production and sales data from earlier this year suggested that the Mavrick 440 had been quietly discontinued after limited sales between March and May 2025. Only a handful of units were produced and sold, leading many to believe the model's journey was a brief affair. However, these latest developments confirm otherwise, the Mavrick 440 is not only making a comeback but could also be Hero's renewed attempt to re-establish itself in the 400cc segment.

Hero Mavrick: Powertrain Details

Mechanically, the motorcycle will retain its 440cc, air- and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, co-developed with Harley-Davidson. It produces 27 PS and 36 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. The engine's proven refinement and strong mid-range performance remain among its highlights.
The TVC shoot indicates that the official launch is just around the corner, possibly within the next few weeks. Given the added premium hardware and visual enhancements, the updated Hero Mavrick 440 is expected to command a small price bump of around Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000 over the current model's Rs. 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom) tag.
Verdict
The Hero Mavrick 440's first outing was met with lukewarm reception, largely because it lacked the visual and feature appeal of its sibling, the Harley-Davidson X440. With this upcoming refresh, including USD forks, a new color palette, and potentially a TFT dash, Hero seems ready to address those shortcomings. If priced right and backed by improved refinement and features, the updated Mavrick 440 could finally carve a proper niche for itself in the Indian mid-size motorcycle segment, taking on rivals like the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda CB350, and Harley-Davidson X440 with renewed vigor.
