Harley-Davidson X440 Detailed Review
The Harley-Davidson X440 mimics the overall design of a roadster as well as cruiser. It is a mix combination of a retro-modern roadster bike that appeals to customers looking for an unique riding experience. The riding position and ergonomics of it are of a typical roadster bike. The handlebar is extended and leads you leaning a bit while the center footpegs help in a comfortable posture. The rear end of the it has a low slung design with a rectangular LED taillight and round indicators. The single-pod circular instrument console also helps in enhancing the retro bike feel of the X440. The fuel tank on it is a big sculpted one that offers a generous capacity of 13.5-lt. Additionally, the machined alloy wheels on the X440 look uber-cool but if you like the spoke rims, the base version comes with them.
Summary
The design & looks of the Harley-Davidson X440 are that of a proper modern-retro roadster.
X440 body specifications:
| Ground Clearance | 170 mm |

The dimensions of the Harley-Davidson X440 are that of a middle-weight motorcycle. It does appear to be big but the overall size of it is quite manageable. For instance, it measures 2168mm in length, which makes it a quite long bike. However, the seat height is moderate at 805mm. But, despite of its cruiser-oriented design language, the new roadster from Harley is set at 170mm in terms of the ground clearance. Thus, maneuvering on the bad roads is an easy affair on it. Meanwhile, its wheelbase of 1418mm is surely long but it does help in the high-speed stability. Last but not the least, the kerb weight of it stands at 190.5 kg. Hence, it is lighter than its direct rivals like the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
Summary
The dimensions of the Harley-Davidson X440 are that of typical roadster & it is quite easy to handle on the road.
X440 body specifications:
| Ground Clearance | 170 mm |

The Harley-Davidson X440 comes equipped with an all-new 440cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine has been developed co-jointly with the QJ Motors. With that said, it produces a peak power of 27.37 PS @ 6,000 rpm. Meanwhile the peak torque that it makes is 38 Nm. But, the sweetest part of this powertrain is that the peak torque comes alive only at 4,000 rpm. Thus, the standstill acceleration of the Harley-Davidson X440 is amazing. Also, it has a lot of low-end torque which means that it is very enjoyable on the twisty roads and inside of the city. Out on the highway, it can easily cruise all day long at speeds of around 90-100 kmph. However, the windblast would be a problem as it comes without a windshield. The 6-speed gearbox & slipper assist clutch works very well on it. The mileage on it is still unknown but we suspect that it can easily deliver upwards of 35 kmpl if ridden sedatey.
Summary
The engine & its performance of the Harley-Davidson X440 is simply amazing and very smooth.
X440 engine specifications:
| Transmission | Manual |
| Mileage | 35 |
| Engine | 440 cc |
The Harley-Davidson X440 comes equipped with a front 18-inch tyre size while the rear is a 17-inch in size. It is equipped with MRF rubber which provides it with a decent grip. In fact, the MRF tyres hold the tarmac with confidence, thus, generating great confidence around the corners. The Harley-Davidson X440 is offered with alloy wheels as well as spoke wheels; depending on the variant chosen. Meanwhile, it gets a strong braking system that includes 320mm large front disc brake while the rear gets a 240mm disc rotor. In terms of features, Harley has equipped it with almost best-in-class equipment. It gets a LED headlight, an LED taillight, LED turn indicators, a single-pod digital instrument console, average fuel economy, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, & even an USB charging port for the phone. Hence, it is decently equipped when compared with its rivals.
Summary
The Harley-Davidson X440 offers a good combination of tyres & braking system. It is also feature loaded with latest equipment.

Latest Updates on X440
The Harley-Davidson X440T has been launched in India at Rs 2.79 lakh (ex-showroom) as a more premium and sportier variant positioned above the standard X440. It features revised styling with a sleeker tail section, extended seat, bar-end mirrors and bronze accents, while retaining the same 440cc engine producing around 27bhp and 38Nm, along with USD forks, alloy wheels and dual-channel ABS.
The Harley-Davidson X440T was unveiled as an updated version of the X440, featuring design revisions such as a reworked tail section, new rear fenders and a longer, lower seat aimed at improving rider and pillion comfort. It retains the same instrument cluster and overall mechanical setup, and the model is part of Harley-Hero’s plan to expand the 440 platform based on customer feedback.
Hero MotoCorp confirmed that the Harley?Davidson X440 will retain its pricing despite a GST hike on motorcycles above 350cc, with prices continuing to start at Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The GST slab for such motorcycles increased from 28% to 40%, but the company chose to absorb the additional cost instead of passing it to buyers, while the bike continues to be offered in Denim, Vivid and S variants.
A new Harley-Davidson motorcycle based on the 440cc platform is reportedly under development, and it could launch later this year or early next year as part of the brand’s expansion with Hero MotoCorp. The upcoming model is expected to be a completely new product, possibly inspired by Harley’s classic cruiser lineage, likely positioned to rival bikes like the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda H’ness CB350, and may even carry a well-known Harley nameplate.
