Bajaj Dominar 400 Detailed Review

Looks And Design 9

The design and the looks of the Bajaj Dominar 400 are inspired by its KTM siblings. The Dominar 400 design caters to buyers who are looking for a comfortable naked sports bike that can cruise long-distance easily. The riding stance of the Dominar is upright, engaging but effortless, commanding yet relaxed. It ensures that even after a long day in the saddle, the rider is not overworked. The robust shape and pure muscular proportions are an obvious symbol of supremacy on the road. Dominar's presence is felt by everyone through the unmistakable tone, even at high speeds, thanks to a throaty exhaust note with strong bass. Wide, well-padded seat with a luxury fabric feel for extended hours of riding.

The moment you see the Dominar 400, its proportions capture your senses. The brawny front end and sculpted tank covered the substantial mid-frame. The Dominar 400 has been designed for dominating road prism. A comprehensive crash guard has been added to the vehicle. The build quality of the mirrors is top-notch. The front and rear-view mirrors have been redesigned from the previous model to give it a sportier and premium look to the vehicle. Tall visors for bad weather conditions, hand guards for stability, engine plate bash for big adventures, USB charging port to stay connected, leg guard, luggage carrier, and the navigation display are some of the factory-fitted accessories to the Dominar 400. Additional paid accessories such as Saddle Stay can be added as well.

Summary

Dominar has a very supreme look which attracts the crowd. It has a dominant presence.

Dimensions 8

The overall dimensions of the Bajaj Dominar 400 are large and wide enough. The motorcycle is easily visible on the traffic-filled roads due to its bigger and muscular dimensions. The length, width, and height of the Dominar 400 are 2156mm, 863mm, and 1243mm. The curb weight of the vehicle is 193kg. It is quite heavy and that is one of the drawbacks of The Dominar 400. This weight, on the other hand, provides stability when driving on highways. It has a ground clearance of 157mm. The fuel capacity of the Dominar 400 is 13 liters. The total weight of the Dominar 400 is 337kg and the wheelbase measures 1453mm.

The overall dimensions show us that the vehicle is quite heavy and large in size but still very sporty.

Engine Performance and Mileage 9.5

The engine of the Bajaj Dominar 400 has been sourced from its KTM sibling bikes. Although, Bajaj has tuned this engine to make it more cruiser friendly and also to attain relaxed riding along with more fuel economy. The 373cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with a double overhead camshaft produces significantly more power and torque. Max power is 29.4kW (40PS) @ 8800rpm. The 35Nm max torque @ 6500 rpm Dominar's power comes on quickly and in a logical manner. The engine type is a single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine. It has ample reserve power for add-on rush even at the top end. The high torque range enables low gear shifts and greater fuel efficiency while cruising. Liquid cooling avoids overheating and guarantees that performance and noise vibration-harshness (NVH) characteristics remain unchanged even after many hours of riding.

The addition of a sixth gear relieves stress on the transmission while also allowing for more relaxing traveling at high speeds. The triple spark technology offers a faster combustion rate when compared to a single or double spark layout. The fuel injection ensures air-fuel mixture to optimize combustion efficiency and offer the best fuel economy for the machine. The four-valve engine ensures that the engine breathes easy even while it is being revved to the limits, right up to the higher rpm. The city mileage of the Dominar 400 is 26.50 kmpl and the highway mileage is 34 kmpl. It accelerates from 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds and the transmission type is manual.

Summary

It has a very powerful engine with characteristics such as liquid cooling. Many efforts are taken so that the engine does not suffer from wear and tear.

Tyres Brakes and Features 9

A slipper clutch has been added as well which is a standard inclusion to prevent the rear wheel from locking and hopping while doing faster downshifts. It lessens the impacts of engine braking, protecting the transmission from being damaged by unexpected forces and so extending its life. For enhanced handling characteristics, a massive reinforced perimeter frame provides torsional stiffness and lateral strength. The best-in-class USD forks improve handling, providing comfort and a solid feel when negotiating hairpin turns and roads, and make the Sports Tourer more intimidating.

The reverse LCD speedometer displays information such as gear position indication in bright backlit portions with excellent contrast for improved clarity and visibility at night. In the event of an emergency stop, the Twin Channel ABS kicks in, ensuring that the wheels do not lock or skid on any surface. The front disc brake which is 320mm with radical caliper installation offers greater braking performance, allowing you to go from 100 to zero kilometers per hour in just 42 meters.

Because it lights up the road like daylight, the unique white LED headlight cluster leaves a lasting impression and provides a superb and safe night riding experience. Position lamp is one of four settings available on the headlamp. Automatic headlight on, low beam, and high beam cover a wide range of riding and illumination requirements. The bungee straps are neatly stowed under the pillion seat, and the four bungee straps help tie down luggage, boosting the Dominar 400's touring potential. The number of features that the Bajaj Dominar 400 provides at this price tag makes it one of the most value-for-money bikes in the segment. Additionally, Bajaj is soon going to update the Dominar with a revised engine and new styling.

Summary

The braking performance for the Dominar 400 is remarkable. There are many features included to ensure the safety of the rider such as the Twin Channel ABS, the unique headlamps, and the reverse LCD speedometer.
