KTM Duke 200 Detailed Review
Duke 200 Looks and Design
The new KTM Duke 200 is an attractive-looking motorcycle. This naked streetfighter sports an aggressive stance and has a striking appeal. At the front, the new Duke 200 gets an angular headlamp cowl, just like the older Duke 250. The headlamp of this motorcycle is a halogen unit but it does get an LED DRL. However, it would have been better if KTM would have switched to a full LED unit like the one we get to see on the quarter-litre Duke and the flagship KTM Duke 390. Moving to the side profile, we can see that the new Duke 200 looks very fresh and sharp.
The new KTM Duke 200 gets a new muscular fuel tank with sharp tank extensions and Duke 200 branding on the fuel tank. The motorcycle gets a solid belly pan that helps in protecting the engine and there is an underbelly exhaust too. The new naked trellis frame of the motorcycle and its dual-tone colour scheme further enhances its look. At the rear, the Duke 200 gets a LED tail lamp and it also gets LED turn indicators. There are split seats too and new aerodynamic rear-view mirrors. The new KTM Duke 200 BS6 is available in two colours - White and Orange.
The updated new KTM Duke 200 BS6 is a handsome-looking motorcycle and it looks very sporty and agile. The KTM Duke 200 sports new dual-tone colour schemes too that further enhance its appeal.
Duke 200 Dimensions and Capacity
The KTM Duke 200 measures 2072 mm in length. It has a width of 831 mm and the naked streetfighter stands at a height of 1109 mm . The motorcycle gets a wheelbase of 1357 mm. It has a seat height of 810 mm, which is on the higher side and so it won’t be very comfortable for short riders. The KTM Duke 200 gets a massive ground clearance of 170 mm which is more than some of the commuter motorcycles and so it won’t be uncomfortable on any speed breakers or rough surfaces. The fuel tank of the motorcycle is of 13.5-litres, and it weighs around 159 kgs.
A low kerb weight of 159 kg along with healthy proportions and a decent ground clearance of 170 mm makes the Duke 200 a rather easy bike to ride. The high seating position will be uncomfortable for the shorter riders though
Duke 200 Engine Performance and Mileage
The new KTM Duke 200 is powered by a BS6 compliant 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine and it gets fuel-injection technology too. This BS6 motor churns out 25 PS of maximum power at 10000 RPM and 19.3 Nm of peak torque at 8000 RPM. The new Duke 200 is the most powerful motorcycle in its class and its engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This is the same engine that does its duty in the KTM RC 200 supersport motorcycle too. The KTM Duke streetfighters have always been known for their excellent outright performance and the same is the case with this motorcycle too.
The KTM Duke 200 is a very powerful motorcycle and the updated BS6 motor is much more refined than the BS4 model. Also, this is a high-revving engine and so while the low-end performance isn’t that great, it offers amazing mid-range punch and top-end performance. The Duke 200 has a sweet-sounding exhaust too. Now, if we talk about its fuel efficiency, the Duke 200 delivers a decent mileage of around 32-38 kmpl in real-world riding conditions. In a nutshell, the new KTM Duke 200 BS6 is a power-packed machine.
The new KTM Duke 200 BS6 offers great performance. The updated BS6 motor is very punchy and it feels very refined too. Also, it delivers decent fuel economy. Low end performance of the motor isn't the best though
Duke 200 Tyres, Brakes and Features
The new KTM Duke 200 is based on a steel trellis frame. The suspension duties on this new motorcycle are performed by 43 mm WP upside-down (USD) forks at the front with 150 mm travel and it gets a mono-shock absorber at the rear with 150 mm travel. The ride quality of the Duke 200 is on the stiffer side as it is a sports motorcycle. However, that being said, it doesn’t feel uncomfortable on our Indian roads and it glides over rough surfaces and speed breakers at ease. For braking duties, the motorcycle gets disc brakes at both ends.
At the front, the KTM Duke 200 gets a 300 mm disc while at the rear, it gets a 230 mm disc unit. Also, it gets dual-channel ABS as an additional safety aid from Bosch. What’s further interesting is that it now gets switchable supermoto mode too. The Duke 200 runs on 17-inch tubeless tyres. The front tyre of the motorcycle measures 110/70-17 while the rear one is a 150/60 section 17-inch unit. Talking about other features, the new KTM Duke 200 gets an all-digital instrument cluster loaded with a ton of information and orange backlit. It displays a digital speedometer, tachometer, odometer, twin trip meters, clock, etc.
The updated new KTM Duke 200 packs in rich hardware. It gets USD front forks, a mono-shock absorber at the rear and the motorcycle is based on a steel trellis frame. The KTM Duke 200 is quite feature-loaded too.
