Yamaha R2 Booking Amount And Launch Date

Interested buyers can reserve the upcoming Yamaha motorcycle for Rs 10,000 through the company’s official online booking platform. Yamaha has listed August 27, 2026 as the launch date on the booking page.
The company is yet to announce the final variant details, specifications, and ex-showroom price. Customers who pre-book the motorcycle are expected to receive priority during deliveries. In case the product won't be what you expected it to be as a buyer, the whole booking amount will be refunded.
Is The Upcoming Yamaha Motorcycle Really The R2?
Yamaha has not clearly used the R2 name in its latest booking communication. However, its recent teaser campaign provides several clues.
The teaser carries Yamaha’s familiar R-series branding, accompanied by the message “We R On Our Way”. The visual treatment of the logo also appears to incorporate a shape resembling the number ‘2’. This comes after Yamaha registered the R2 name in India and various international markets, making the R2 the most likely identity of the motorcycle being prepared for launch. The motorcycle has also been reported to be positioned between the existing R15 and the previously available R3 in Yamaha’s performance-bike hierarchy.
Yamaha R2 Engine And Mechanical Hardware
The upcoming fully-faired motorcycle is expected to be powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Transmission duties will most probably be handled by a six-speed gearbox (featuring the brand's VVA technology)
Also, there will be some new stuff on offer as well, which includes Yamaha’s existing sportbike platform, including a Deltabox-style frame, upside-down front fork and rear monoshock, and dual-channel ABS.
Note: These specifications should be treated as expected rather than confirmed until Yamaha officially reveals the motorcycle.
Expected Features
On the feature front too, the R2 is expected to receive a premium treatment compared to the R15. Those premium additions could be a fully digital TFT instrument cluster paired with connected tech, a ride-by-wire system, traction control, and a quickshifter. Again, please keep in mind that these features are not confirmed officially yet, and the list could differ from the one we have stated.
Yamaha R2 Expected Price And Rivals
The upcoming Yamaha R2 will sit in the highly competitive 150-250cc segment. We expect the motorcycle to make it to Indian shores at around Rs. 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the R2 will lock horns with likes of KTM RC 200, Karizma XMR 200 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. The R2 will be a completely locally manufactured product, and this would also help keep the price competitive.
