Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Detailed Review

Looks and Colour Options 9

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has several high-end modern additions in addition to its inborn classic charm. The Interceptor 650 has a circular headlight with chrome surrounds up front. It is a halogen unit, though, and the 650cc retro bike lacks even LED DRLs. Then, this motorcycle has large telescopic forks up front and a large radiator shroud that is too close to the engine case. This motorcycle by Royal Enfield features several chrome highlights. It has handlebars and rearview mirrors that are decorated with chrome.

Since the body panels of this vintage motorcycle are plain, the side profile is quite attractive. On the fuel tank, it does receive a 3D Royal Enfield symbol. The RE Interceptor 650 has a long, flat seat with a lovely texture, and because it's a retro-cruiser, the handlebars are mounted upright for relaxed ergonomics. Dual exhausts with a chrome finish are also included on the Interceptor 650, and they not only sound great but also look incredibly nice. There are seven different colours available for the new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. They are Orange Crush, Canyon Red, Baker Express, Sunset Strip, Ventura Blue, and Mark Two. Downtown Drag is also a member.

Summary

The Royal Enfield Interceptor is a good-looking retro motorcycle, and it is available in a lot of distinct colours. Also, it gets chrome accents all around which bring out the premiumness in the looks department.

Dimensions and Capacity 8.5

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 features dimensions of 1165 mm in height, 789 mm in width, and 2122 mm in length. With a 1400 mm wheelbase and an 804 mm seat height, this vintage motorbike is suitable for both short and tall riders. The enormous 174 mm ground clearance of the new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is more than enough to handle speed bumps and other obstacles. The Interceptor 650 actually has a higher ground clearance than other high-end commuters. The motorcycle features a huge 13.7-litre petrol tank and weighs 202 kilogrammes.

Summary

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has healthy proportions, and it offers a decent ground clearance too. At 202 kg, the Interceptor is a heavy bike. The massive 13.7 litre fuel tank should be able to provide a decent touring range despite the big engine of the bike.

Engine Performance and Mileage 9

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has an air-cooled, parallel-twin, 648cc engine that complies with BS6, as well as electronic fuel injection technology. 47.65 PS of maximum power and 52 Nm of maximum torque are produced by this BS6 motor at 7250 RPM and 5250 RPM, respectively. The motorcycle's engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and it also has a slipper clutch. The Interceptor 650 is arguably one of the very few motorcycles that hasn't lost power and torque as BS4 to BS6 pollution rules have been implemented.

With the BS6 update, the motorcycle has become more eco-friendly, and this engine now even feels more refined than before. The Interceptor 650 offers exceptional performance. It has a good low-end torque and it offers fantastic mid-range performance. The motorcycle also truly shines on the highways and one can comfortably cruise at 100 kmph all day long. The engine doesn’t feel stressed, and it doesn’t overheat too. The Interceptor 650 also offers great fuel economy. It delivers around 25-30 kmpl of mileage in the city while on highways, it delivers up to 32-35 kmpl of mileage in real-world riding conditions.

Summary

The new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 BS6 offers superior performance. It truly shines on highways and one can comfortably cruise on it all day long. The Interceptor 650 offers decent fuel economy too.

Tyres, Brakes and Features 9

The steel tubular double-cradle frame serves as the foundation for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The tyres on this vintage motorcycle are 18-inch tubeless radials. But because it has spoke wheels rather than alloy wheels, these tyres function as tube-type units. The motorcycle's front tyre has a dimension of 100/90-R18, while the rear tyre has a section size of 130/70-R18. The new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has disc brakes at each end for stopping purposes. It has a 320 mm disc in front and a 240 mm disc at the back. Dual-channel ABS is also included as an additional safety feature. The Interceptor 650 has excellent stopping power, which is enhanced by the grip of the tyres.

The motorcycle has dual gas-charged shock absorbers at the back and telescopic forks up front to perform suspension chores. The motorcycle provides a comfortable ride with a smooth ride quality. The seat padding, though, might have been much better. Additionally, the Interceptor 650 has an analogue instrument cluster with a speedometer and tachometer. Additionally, it has a small multi-information display (MID) in the middle that includes trip metres, an odometer, a fuel gauge, a clock, etc.

Summary

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 packs in decent hardware and offers a good ride quality. It is also decently loaded with features and gets analogue dials along with a slipper clutch.
