1. Citroen Basalt- Most Affordable In The List Of SUVs Under Rs. 10 Lakhs
You And Plus Variants

At just Rs, 7.95 lakh (ex-showroom, post-GST 2.0), the Citroen Basalt positions itself as the most affordable mid-size SUV while also delivering impressive safety credentials. It has scored 4 stars in Bharat NCAP, with strong adult and child occupant protection ratings, thanks to six airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts, and parking sensors offered as standard. Engine options mirror its sibling, with a 1.2-litre NA petrol (82 PS, 115 Nm, 5MT) and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol delivering 110 PS and up to 205 Nm, paired with manual or automatic gearboxes. With its safety-first package, competitive pricing, and modern equipment like TPMS and a rear-view camera on higher trims, the Basalt makes a compelling case for families looking for peace of mind under the Rs. 10 lakh mark. Also with its not very common Coupe SUV stance, it gives a standout road presence in a budget as well.
2. Citroen Aircross
You And Plus Variants

The Citroen Aircross stands out as one of the most affordable entries into the mid-size SUVs under 10 lakhs, with prices starting at just Rs. 8.62 lakh (ex-showroom) earlier, but after the GST rationalisation, it drops further to Rs. 8.32 lakhs ex-showroom. Buyers get the choice of a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol with 82 PS, or a stronger 1.2-litre turbo-petrol delivering 110 PS and 205 Nm, paired with manual or torque-converter automatic gearboxes. Despite its budget positioning, the Citroen Aircross is generously equipped in its higher trims with a 10.2-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital cluster, automatic climate control, and steering-mounted controls. Safety is well covered too, with six airbags, TPMS, hill-hold assist and ABS with EBD, and more.
3. MG Astor
Sprint Variant

Another addition to the SUVs under Rs. 10 lakh starting at Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Astor in its Sprint trim is now the gateway to a tech-forward mid-size SUV experience. Although this price is expected to further go down with the GST 2.0 rate cuts to around 9.65 lakhs ex-showroom. With the MY2025 update, new Shine and Select variants further democratize premium features like ventilated seats, wireless charging, a digital key, and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, rare in its own price band. The Astor also shines on the safety front, packing 50+ safety features and a 14-function Level-2 ADAS suite, along with segment-first heated ORVMs. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine delivering 108 hp and 144 Nm, offered with a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox. With its strong focus on connectivity via MG's i-SMART 2.0 and JIO voice integration, the Astor is a standout for tech-savvy buyers. While you will have to shell out extra mint for the more advanced features, the entry price point is below the 10 lakh mark.

4. Maruti Victoris
LXI Variant (Expected)

The pricing for the latest reveal by Maruti is slated for September 15, but we strongly believe that it will be priced at Rs. 9.99 lakhs ex-showroom to really create that distinction with the Grand Vitara, which also plays in the same segment. While the base LXI trim will be devoid of some of the niceties, the Victoris is pretty well equipped, even better than the Grand Vitara. The Victoris brings some first-ever features in any Maruti car, like the Level-2 ADAS, 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment with more features, an underbody CNG tank, gesture-controlled powered tailgate, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and more. As for the powertrain, you will get exactly what you get with the Grand Vitara, which is a petrol, petrol hybrid, and a petrol+CNG option.
Verdict
The mid-size SUV market under Rs. 10 lakh is now more exciting than ever. Buyers can pick from safety-centric options like the Citroen Basalt, turbo-petrol fun with the Aircross, tech-laden convenience in the MG Astor, or the all-rounder appeal of Maruti's upcoming Victoris. Each brings a distinct strength to the table, proving that affordability no longer means compromise in this hotly contested segment, although you shell out more for the luxury add-ons, the entry to this playground is still very much accessible.
