Every year we see a flood of new car launches, bringing the latest technology that makes cars launched last year dated. In this cutthroat automaker competition, the audience is winning, as they have a wide variety of options to choose from. On the other hand, this practice is making it extremely tough for automakers to make changes so quickly to stay relevant, and that's why they losing the game now. So, on that basis here are cars that need an update super soon, so people also start talking interest in them again. Let's start and in the meantime, make sure to join 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Maruti S-Presso

Launched in 2019, S-Presso continues to sell with the same set of specifications and overall design in 2025. That said, recently, it received a major update - bringing 6 airbags, ABS with EBD on all of its variants. It would develop confidence among people that S-Presso too can be a safe option. However, the overall body design and features appear like a distant memory as the current automotive trends are all about two light setups at the front, with a large grille and a lot of chrome. With a generational update, it will get back on track.
Renault Kwid

Kwid, once a hot-shot now has been completely ignored as its customer base has shifted towards MG Comet, Tata Tiago, and other small cars. That's because, for a little more price than Kwid, they are getting a more spacious hatchback and even an entry-level micro-SUV, along with better performance. Kwid lost its relevance in 2024, and now we don't even hear anything about it. So, it has become imperative for Renault to bring its new generation and make it a hot shot again. Its compactness was its USP, but that didn't last long as Indians were attracted to something unique, that no other car is offering.
Maruti Wagon R

Famously known as "Every Dad's favourite car", the Wagon R is in its 3rd Generation. It was recently updated with safety features, including 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, 3-point seat belts, and a reverse parking camera across all variants. Like the S-Presso, the 3rd Gen made its debut in 2019, and it's been six years since its launch. That said, it is still India's highest-selling car, and no other new car- regardless of how flawless - can come close to matching its popularity. Still, Wagon R needs an update, as there are several issues with it such as -poor ride quality, subpar fit and finish, and instability at high speeds. Maruti needs to step up its game to make this car more premium and safer, as well as improve its design and overall appeal.
Renault Triber

The Renault Triber, India's cheapest 7-seater, made its debut on June 19, 2019, and since then the same model has been going on, with minute upgrades to keep it relevant. However, this underrated vehicle feels dated, and no X amount of special editions will help it now, as it needs to upgrade in size and features and change its personality from a practical, affordable car to a desirable one. Interestingly, Nissan has announced plans to launch a Triber-based product in FY25, positioned as a more premium offering. So, let's see when Renault does the same.
Renault Kiger

Another outstanding and rather overlooked Renault car that made its debut in 2021 needs a new life. Kiger, a compact SUV based on what appears to be a Kwid on steroids, can't really make a place in the competition, as its rivals offer far more premium interiors packed with high-tech features. Moreover, Kiger and Nissan Magnite are bros, and Magnite appears more of a better product just because of Nissan's attention to detail. So, it's a fact that all Renault cars need a new life soon, as the competition is getting better and better with each passing year.
Mahindra Bolero

Bolero, the no-nonse original SUV selling in India since 2000, can be termed as the backbone of Indian roads. This SUV is also available in other iterations made for commercial and other private purposes, such as Camper, Pick-Up, and Ambulance. The one that sells as a passenger vehicle was last updated in 2020, and now it's high time, Mahindra gave this vehicle a justifiable update, bringing a new platform, new engines and overall a new personality. To add more, we reported that, Mahindra will unveil a new monocoque platform on August 15th, 2025, and as per several sources, Bolero's next generation will be housed on it. So, let's see, how it turns out.
Honda City

One of the most legendary nameplates in the Indian automotive industry, Honda City sadly has flopped massively over the last 2 years. The paramount reason for its downfall is the consumers completely ignoring sedans and buying SUVs, and the second reason is Honda being Honda, doing nothing to make their cars aspirational. Today, City rivals offer at least two engine options, a quick DCT gearbox and a superior build quality. Here, City has just one engine, and for the sake of automatic, they have CVT, which is not even a distant relative of enthusiasts. Moreover, this sedan is currently in its 5th generation launched in 2020, and is not selling enough, like it used to 5 years ago.
Toyota Fortuner

By far the most desirable car in India, the Toyota Fortuner is the dream car that kills not just its rivals but vehicles that are very close to its price tag because as soon as your budget inches towards Rs 40 lakh, only one option rings the bell - Toyota Fortuner. Still, from a car lover's perspective, the Fortuner is way behind in delivering a premium experience. It doesn't have features to offer, nor its comfort level is acceptable, there's still no petrol hybrid powertrain option, and most importantly, this car lacks a sunroof, something Indians can't seem to live without. Currently, in its 2nd generation facelift, it's high time for this car to become new.

Verdict
Barring the Maruti S-Presso, all the other cars here are legacy vehicles, as they have been selling in India for quite a long time, and almost all generations of these have received a great response in terms of sales and overall engineering. Still, there are several flaws in them that need to be corrected to make their brand stronger. So, let's see when the automakers listen to this feedback and deliver.
