Mahindra New Platform

As per several media reports, this base will be called the New Flexible Architecture (NFA) of monocoque chassis and will be capable of housing petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, and pure electric powertrains. Also, the automaker made headlines by stating that by 2030, they will launch 7 new ICE and 5 EVs, and out of these, 3 ICE and 2 EVs are set to hit the roads by 2026. Plus, two of their models will get a mid-life cycle update, and we believe Mahindra is talking about the XUV700 and Thar here.
Lastly, the newly built Mahindra plant in Chakan, which falls in Pune district, will become the hub of this upcoming platform, and the company says it can produce up to 1.2 lakh vehicles.

Currently, Mahindra lineup includes a total of 12 vehicles - out of which 9 are ICE and three are EVs. The best selling cars out of those are Scorpio and Thar. Getting the credit of being the original manufacturer of SUVs, Mahindra has 7 cars with ladder-on-frame chassis with rear-wheel-drive setup. Only 2 ICE cars are there with monocoque chassis, so a need for a monocoque architecture had become imperative. Let's see how this unfolds, and for more updates on this, follow 91Wheels.

Verdict
Mahindra's new architecture and a new manufacturing plant are signs that this giant of an organisation wants to conquer the Indian automotive sector in the future. Already, they have left Hyundai behind and are having a close fight with Tata to become the biggest number 2 automaker. One more important thing to remember is that only this company is having positive sales trends with highest margins, so clearly their future seems bright and they are working hard for it.
