Jeep Compass

The most important aspect of the new Jeep Compass revealed globally is its multiple powertrain options, which include a mild hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and an all-electric variant that also gets the 4X4 drivetrain. Now, this press release doesn't mention the engine displacement, but we'll notify you whenever it's out. Talking about the power figures - the 48V mild hybrid setup makes 145 HP, the PHEV makes 195 HP, and for the EV, there will be three versions, offering power up to 213 HP in the front-wheel drive and a stunning 375 HP in the all-wheel drive.

For EV setup, Jeep has developed a new platform that houses a rear electric motor, providing additional 49 kW (65 HP) of peak power and up to 232 Nm torque. To add more things about its EV variant - the range would be 650 km, and it supports DC charging of 160 kW. With that, the battery charges from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
More Details

The new Compass is build on the STLA Medium Platform, which is also shared with the newly revealed Citroen C5 Aircross, with a length accounting for 4550 mm, which 145 mm longer than current 2nd generation. Also, the legroom has gone up bby 55 mm, boot space is 550L, increased by 34L. Other detials like width and height are yet to be disclosed.

From features point of view - the new Compass gets Matrix LED, Level 2 ADAS, wireless charging, OTA updates, and more. That said, as of now, there isn't any news on this generation coming anytime soon to India, but Jeep is developing a smaller mid-size SUV to compete in the Hyundai Creta territory. So, there are very less chances of this car to come in India, but fingers crossed.

Verdict
Jeep Compass and the Jeep brand, along with other Stellantis group companies operating in India, are struggling badly, as their sales aren't picking up despite offering great discounts and launching affordable, value-for-money editions left, right, and center. So, bringing a newer Compass with a hybrid setup can work, as this car is currently available with a diesel engine only. Plus, it now appears dated and needs an upgrade soon. So, we believe this car should come sooner.
