Volkswagen Golf GTI

The Golf GTI is a rather special car, as the Golf brand itself is synonymous with Volkswagen globally, and the GTI badge is meant to take things to the next level. Customers can pay a token amount of Rs 2.65 lakh, but there is an interesting twist to all of this. You see, VW has decided to add in a certain quiz before you move on to the actual booking process. Anyone keen on booking the car has to get at least 4 out of 5 questions correct. After successfully doing so within the 15-minute time frame, you will then get a chance to be on the GTI Reserve List, and if you are lucky enough, you will make the cut and get to own the Golf GTI.

While the Golf GTI gets the option of 19-inch wheels with Queenstown alloy rims globally, we are bound to receive 18-inch wheels with Richmond alloy rims. The hatchback design is quite the fresh sight for those tired of seeing too many SUVs on the horizon, and some other design highlights include LED Plus headlights, twin tailpipes, X-shaped fog lights, and an illuminated VW logo.

There are four colour options that will be offered on the Golf GTI; Grenada Black Metallic, Oryx White Premium Mother-of-Pearl Black, Moonstone Grey Black, and Kings Red Premium Metallic Black.

Powering the Golf GTI will be a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol powertrain, producing 261bhp and 370Nm of torque, while paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission. VW claims that the Golf GTI can cover a 0-100kmph run in just 5.9 seconds, while maxing out at an electronically-restricted top speed of 250kmph.

Some feature higlights would include a 12.9-inch touch screen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit with a customizable display, voice commands, an electronic front differential, adaptive cruise control, and a 7-speaker sound system among many other things.

Verdict

With the Golf GTI coming in as a CBU, we can expect prices to be upwards of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom), and it will go up directly against the Mini Cooper S. There will be limited units and you might wanna act fast!
