KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Mahindra XUV700 5-seater variants discontinued
- A move likely stemming from low demand
- Another update includes AWD now being available from the lower trim onwards
Mahindra is having its time where it is now synonymous with the SUVs in the country, and if I have to point out one of the flag-bearers of the modern SUV league, it has to be the Mahindra XUV700, which had a demand that almost broke the system. And with the demand still being pretty solid, the brand is making timely changes, cutting out what isn't rolling off, and adding things that the customers demand. Doing the same, the 5-seater variants of this SUV have now been shelved and are now delisted from the website. Let's look at the details about what the line-up now looks like, but before that, make sure to join the 91wheels WhatsApp Community to never miss out on any latest news and automotive updates.

Mahindra XUV700 5-Seater Variant Discontinued

Mahindra has officially phased out the five-seater variants of the Mahindra XUV700, making the flagship SUV available exclusively in six- and seven-seater configurations. This change has led to a revised starting price of Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom), up from the earlier Rs 13.99 lakh. Now, the XUV700 is offered in just the 6 and 7-seater configurations, including the recently launched Ebony Edition. Prices now range from Rs 14.49 lakh for the base MX petrol manual (7-seater) to the top-spec AX7 L diesel automatic Ebony Edition (7-seater). Additionally, Mahindra has expanded the availability of the AWD drivetrain to start from the AX7 trim, making it more accessible by over Rs 2 lakh compared to before.

The Mahindra XUV700 stands out with a rich blend of technology, safety, and comfort features, and is also one of the most advanced Mahindra SUVs. It comes equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that includes lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, driver drowsiness detection, and more. Safety is further enhanced with side airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Premium touches like R18 diamond-cut alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, leatherette upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever elevate the cabin experience. Comfort-focused features such as a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat with memory and welcome retract, Intelli Control, dual-zone climate control, power-folding ORVMs, steering-mounted controls, ventilated seats, and a lot more.
Engine Details
The Mahindra XUV700 is offered with two powerful engine choices: a 200 hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 185 hp, 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. The AX7 trim allows buyers to choose a manual transmission with the petrol engine, while the AX7 L trim comes solely with an automatic gearbox. A noteworthy update is the availability of 4WD starting from the diesel AX7 variant, making the all-wheel-drive option more accessible and affordable than before.
Verdict
From making the AWD variants more affordable to taking the 5-seater version off the books, Mahindra seems to be streamlining its offering and making it less complicated with lower number of variants. Although the Scorpio N has divided the SUV buyers that are in for a Mahindra SUV, the demand for XUV700 remains high and solid. But since more buyers in India prefer an SUV with the 3-row configuration and more seats, the 5-seater variants had to finally go.
