- Placed in the middle of the hierarchy for a better price-to-value ratio
- Comes amidst declining sales and sluggish growth
Honda has been one of the long-running players in the Indian automotive scene, and it is completely safe to say that they are not in their best position as of May 2025, with the sales managing to stay just above the 3000 monthly mark across India. This puts Honda in a very tough spot where it slipped to the number 8 spot in the sales rankings, with Kia, Skoda, Volkswagen, and others beating it towards the downward slope. In a bid to tighten its grip, the brand is ready to roll out more affordable variants of the Honda Elevate, which seems to be doing fine for the brand. Honda Elevate New Variants Coming Soon

Honda Cars India has been facing a dip in sales, with the brand recording just 3,360 units recently and missing from the list of top five best-selling carmakers. In a bid to revive its numbers and attract more buyers, Honda is now gearing up to expand the Honda Elevate lineup by introducing new variants, aiming to inject fresh appeal into its existing portfolio. Honda Cars India reported a sharp 55% year-on-year decline in total sales for April 2025, selling just 4,871 units compared to 10,867 units in April 2024. Domestic sales dropped by 22.78% to 3,360 units, down from 4,351 units last year, while exports took a more severe hit, falling 76.81% to 1,511 units from 6,516 units in the same month a year ago. Honda Elevate is still doing decently for the brand and is slowly picking up pace, whereas the Amaze has not been able to shake up the sales of the new Maruti Dzire.

A higher official noted that the company had deliberately scaled back dispatches in April to maintain healthy inventory levels amidst weak market sentiment. This move, he said, was aimed at supporting dealer efficiency while staying prepared for fluctuating demand. To revive momentum, Honda is set to launch new, competitively priced variants of the Elevate in May, bundled with added benefits to deliver better value to customers and potentially boost sales.
Powertrain: Shares It With The City!

Powering the Honda Elevate is a refined 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, the same trusted unit found in the Honda City. It generates 119 bhp and 145 Nm of torque, offering smooth and linear performance that's well-suited for both city commutes and highway cruising. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT, and known for its refinement, this engine stands out as one of the most polished and effortless performers in its class.
Verdict
Honda is struglling to match up to the sales number of its counterparts, even after having the Honda Elevate positioned against the likes of Grand Vitara and Creta, along with Honda Amaze pitted against the new Maruti Dzire. The move to introduce new trims in the Elevate, it hopes to attract masses with a particular price bracket, that hovers in between the range that Elevate currently operates.
