Originally launched in 1999 to take on the Hyundai Santro, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has sold over 2.5 million copies. The third generation model of the WagonR was launched in India in early 2019 and much like the Japan-spec version, the Indian model was based on the highly publicized HEARTECT platform.

Another first for the Maruti Suzuki WagonR came in the form of a 1.2-litre engine option. This is the same K12M unit that even powers some costlier models from the country’s largest-selling carmaker. Also, the Automated Manual Transmission (AGS in Maruti speak) has been available on both 1.0 and 1.2-litre options, with the former also being sold with an optional factory-fitted CNG kit. Thanks to its competitive pricing, highly practical interior, high fuel mileage and easy maintenance, the WagonR has been a force to reckon with.

Comfortable Family Car

It is a nice car for a small family of 3 to 4 members. The drive is very comfortable, even for long journeys. The CNG mileage is good and fuel efficient. Boot space is spacious, and headroom is also good. All the features are useful and well designed. Overall, a great family car.

Good Overall

Everything about the car is good overall. The mileage is impressive, and it performs well in daily use. The only issue I’ve noticed is that sometimes the suspension can be a problem because of the low ground clearance. Apart from that, there are no major concerns, and I’m satisfied with the car.

Affordable but Needs Improvement

It is very cost effective for middle-class people like us. Maintenance cost is low. It is easy for pocket. Service is also easy. Build quality needs to be better. I would love to buy it again if I want.
