Hi, I'm Tejen. I was born and brought up in a small town of Haryana. However, from the day of my birth and until now, I've always lived around cars and motorcycles. More than passion, the automotive world is my only lifestyle. It's the connection to the vehicle that delivers me peace. However, when it comes to a choice; my instinct leads me towards motorcycles.

The all-new 2022 Maruti WagonR has made its way into the auto market. With not-so-radical changes, the new hatchback from a Japanese carmaker has brought some subtle changes along with a new price bracket of Rs 5.40-7.10 Lakhs (ex-showroom) as well.

Elaborating these changes, here are the 5 changes which you will witness in the new WagonR from the outgoing model:

ISS Technology

With the launch of new WagonR, Maruti has introduced the efficient feature of Idle Stop and Start. This function allows the car to switch off itself when standing at idle engine condition for a long period of time. To start the car again, the driver can easily press the clutch once and the engine comes alive.

Maruti has been using the idle stop and start function in its various cars mainly seen on higher segments. The introduction of this feature will help the new buyers to save fuel in bumper-to-bumper city traffic conditions hence saving money and producing fewer emissions.

Although, the ISS function shall only be made available in the petrol variants only and not in the bi-fuel CNG variants. Maruti uses three engine options for the new WagonR which include a 1.2 Lt petrol, 1.0 Lt petrol and a 1.0 Lt bi-fuel CNG. A choice of 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AGS automatic transmission options are available.

Hill Hold Assist

One of the most prominent and useful features in the latest generation cars is the Hill Hold Assist. This function allows the car to hold on to the standstill position even after releasing the brake pedal over steep inclines.

Maruti has equipped the new updated WagonR with the Hill Hold Assist feature only for the AGS variants. The AGS variants are the automatic variants that use the AMT transmission for a comfortable and convenient driving experience within the city limits. Manual variants do not possess the hill-hold assistance technology.

This infotainment system is also supported via a cloud-based system which further aids the driver and passengers to enjoy a connected driving experience as the driver can access various car stats. Maruti has provided a 4-speakers system to comply with the new infotainment package.

The bi-fuel option of WagonR has always been an evergreen hit among city buyers. May it be commuting to the office or traveling from one city to other, the CNG option in WagonR has helped WagonR to reach the top of the sales charts.

As the outgoing model was equipped with the CNG option only in the base trim i.e. LXi variant; Maruti has taken the customer feedback seriously and worked upon providing more features for the CNG buyers. Hence, the updated car will now be offered with a CNG option in the middle-variant VXi as well.

The VXi variant beholds features such as body-colored door handles, electrically operated ORVMs, double-din music system with Bluetooth connectivity, front fog lamps, all 4-door power windows, center-locking system, etc. These features make the middle variant more uplifted than the base LXi trim. The availability of CNG in the middle trim will lure more buyers to Maruti undoubtedly.

For buyers looking towards a lively WagonR with vibrant looks; the new dual-tone colour options are a perfect fit.
