Skoda Rapid 2016-2020
Skoda Rapid 2016-2020 Latest Update
One of the few remaining C segment or executive sedans that offer the reassurance of solid build quality is the Rapid. The current version got a major facelift in 2017 and continues to look polished with an understated design. This goes down well with those who do not like the idea of a flashy car. That said, we certainly like the way the Monte Carlo edition looks like!
The cabin is well laid out and practical. Though space isn't in the league of cars like the City or the Ciaz, the Rapid ends up offering good levels of comfort and a spread of variants that ensures there is a trim level for all types of budgets.
The current model is offered with a 1.5 diesel and a 1.6 petrol - the former is sold with both a manual as well as a DSG automatic transmission. The petrol too gets an automatic and both the engine are known for punchy performance and decent fuel economy figures.
The Rapid offers light controls that make it a delight for daily drives - the clutch on the diesel though could be better. Likewise, though it doesn't offer the best ride quality in the segment, it offers a great mix of comfort and handling. There are as many as 18 different versions on offer and soon, a 1.0 turbo petrol will also be added to the line-up.
