2020 Ford Aspire BS6 First Look Review - Most Fun To Drive Compact Sedan

The Ford Aspire made its debut in the Indian market in 2015 and since then, continues to be one of the best looking cars in the segment. The car not only gets a nice looking design but also offers great build quality, powerful engines, and sorted driving dynamics. Exterior Looks and Design

The overall design language of the car remains subtle with any inclusion of aggressive design elements. At the front, the 2020 Ford Aspire BS6 gets a nice grille with chrome surrounds and a large air dam below which gives it a distinct and an elegant look. The bulges on the bonnet do make it look a little aggressive, but apart from that, it looks bold and elegant. The side profile of the car remains largely similar to the outgoing model and features a strong shoulder line. The new 15-inch alloy wheels look nice and give it a better stance. Move to the rear and you will observe that the car looks simple and subtle. The chrome strip in addition to the small tail lamps makes it look better than most of its rivals.

Interiors

The interiors of the car get a dual-tone beige-black colour scheme which makes the cabin look airy and smart. The dashboard may look polarising but is extremely practical and usable. The seats at the front are comfortable and have ample amount of space. The rear seats, however, could have done with better under-thigh support but apart from that, the cabin is comfortable, and spacious.

Engine and Gearbox

The 2020 Ford Aspire BS6 gets two engine options - 1.2-L Dragon petrol and a 1.5-L TDCi engine. The 1.2-L Dragon petrol delivers 96 Ps and 119 Nm of peak torque while the 1.5-L diesel engine delivers a peak power output of 100 Ps and maximum torque output of 215 Nm. Both these can only be had with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Talk about the overall power delivery and refinement and you will notice that both these engines are one of the best in the segment. The diesel engine is not just powerful but extremely fuel-efficient as well and delivers close to 25 kmpl in ideal conditions.

Features

With the new update, the car gets a number of features such as a touchscreen FlyAudio system, push-button start, automatic climate control and many other features such as auto-dimming IRVM, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers and rear defogger. On the safety front, the car gets ABS, EBD, dual front airbags, seat belt reminder system, etc as standard while the range-topping variant gets six airbags and many more safety features.

Price and Rivals

The 2020 Ford Aspire competes in the compact sedan segment and competes against the cars like Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor, and VW Ameo. The car is priced from Rs 6.09 lakh for the base petrol model.
