Expert Verdict on Harrier

91Wheels Expert
Pros & Cons of Harrier
It now gets a more imposing stance with a new design.
The Harrier scored 5-star in the GNCAP crash test.
It offers better comfort inside the cabin with a winged headrest.
The base Smart variant is decently equipped.
Most of the variants now come with an option for automatic transmission.
It comes within segment ground clearance.
Multi-drive modes are now available from mid-variants.
The base variant offers decent equipment, but mid-variants lack some features.
Adaptive Cruise Control is exclusive to AT variants.
Single Diesel engine, no petrol option available.
Fit and finish issues persist, similar to other Tata cars.
The ride quality is a bit on the stiffer side.
The pricing of the new Harrier feels slightly overpriced.
Should I buy the Harrier?
Absolutely - if your priorities are safety, space, design, and diesel torque. The Harrier outshines many rivals in terms of build quality and road presence, while offering a cabin that feels both premium and practical. Buy lower/mid trims if you want the mechanical strengths without overspending. Go for the Adventure X+ or Fearless trims if you want ADAS, quad disc brakes, and near-top-end comfort. If you can live without a petrol or hybrid option, the Harrier is one of the best-rounded SUVs in its price range and is now better value than before.

Latest Updates on Harrier
The Tata Harrier Petrol has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 12.89 lakh (ex-showroom), powered by the new 1.5-litre HYPERION Turbo-GDi engine. Aimed at buyers seeking a smoother and more refined driving experience, it offers strong performance, premium tech features, and a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. Available across multiple variants with manual and automatic options, the Harrier Petrol broadens Tata’s flagship SUV appeal beyond diesel buyers.
The Tata Harrier Petrol has been spotted at a dealership yard in near-production form, strongly indicating an imminent launch. The SUV looks identical to the diesel version, confirming that this update is purely mechanical, with no design or feature changes. The petrol Harrier is expected to offer the same premium features and safety kit as the diesel, while pricing is likely to start around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), though Tata is yet to confirm official details.
Tata Motors is set to introduce a petrol-powered Tata Harrier around November 2025, likely timed for the festive season. It is expected to be powered by a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. The petrol variant will lower the Harrier’s entry barrier and widen its appeal, while the existing 2.0-litre diesel will continue alongside it.
Tata Motors has reshuffled the Tata Harrier’s variant lineup as part of a portfolio realignment, introducing the new Adventure X persona to offer buyers more focused and value-driven choices. The updated Harrier range now starts at Rs 14.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 24.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), spanning Smart, Pure X, Adventure X, Adventure X+, Fearless X, and Fearless X+ trims. This rejig aims to simplify variant selection while better aligning pricing, features, and buyer preferences.
Tata Motors has launched the Harrier Adventure X and Adventure X+ variants to offer a more rugged yet premium SUV experience. Priced at Rs 18.99 lakh for the Adventure X and Rs 19.34 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Adventure X+, these trims sit just below the top-spec Fearless variants. The Harrier Adventure models come powered by the 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine, retain 5-star GNCAP/BNCAP safety, and add distinctive styling, terrain modes, premium interiors, and advanced tech. The Adventure X+ further ups the game with Level 2 ADAS, quad disc brakes, and enhanced safety features.
