Aprilia has been testing a new middle-weight sports bike for some time now. The upcoming Aprilia RS 440 has already been seen testing in India. Aprilia RS 440 - Design & Features
As seen in the latest spy shots, the RS 440 will share a lot of design elements with the bigger RS 660. It has no sharp design, like its rivals Yamaha R3 or the KTM RC 390. The front fascia uses stretched-out dual headlights with a smiling face design. Also, the sports bike riding position is evidently visible by how the rider is sitting. The handlebar is aggressively set with a forward and dedicated riding position. Also, the rider footpegs have been placed a little back to give a sporty riding posture. Additionally, the fuel tank design is sculpted and it takes inspiration from the bigger super sports bike of Aprilia.
While the design makes it look like a baby RS 660, it'll come loaded with ample of features. For example, a TFT display with connected features for the phone, riding modes, ABS modes, etc., will be offered as standard. Either way, it'll get LED lights all around too. Meanwhile, the hardware will consist of USD front suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, preload adjustable rear monoshock, & adjustable levers as well. The windshield, however, will not be an adjustable unit on it (as visible in the leaked photos).
Engine & Specifications
The engine on it will be a 440cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit. This powertrain will develop a peak power output of 48 bhp (expected). Additionally, to deliver this power, a 6-speed gearbox will be offered along with a slipper clutch. Meanwhile, the photos of the test bike show that it'll be equipped with a dual-disc brake setup. The front end of it will possibly get a 320mm rotor size while the rear will be limited to a rotor. Also, a dual-channel ABS will be offered as standard.

Verdict
Aprilia is a renowned name in the world of sports bikes. However, the Indian middle-weight sports bike segment is currently ruled by the KTM RC 390 & Kawasaki Ninja 300. Aprilia is surely going to enter soon, as the expected debut of the RS 440 will take place by September. Meanwhile, the Yamaha R3 is also going to make a comeback by this Diwali festival in India.
