Aprilia Storm 125 Scooter Disc Variant Is Now Discontinued

Aprilia Storm 125 scooter variant with disc brake options is now discontinued. The Storm 125 will only be offered with the drum brake options.

If you are planning to buy the Aprilia Italian two-wheeler soon, here is not-so-good news for you. The Aprilia Storm 125 scooter with the disc variant is soon going to get discontinued. The Storm scooter is offered in two variants currently, which will soon shorten to one option.

As per the news reports over the internet, the Storm 125 disc variant is not attracting the number of buyers needed to keep going. The 125 variant is based on the Aprilia SR 160 scooter. After the sweet success of the SR performance scooter in the Indian market, Aprilia decided to cater to the 125cc market with Storm. The basic idea was to make the required changes in the SR 160 & demote it to the segment standard.

Aprilia Storm 125

As Aprilia is owned by Piaggio, the Vespa 125 model sourced parts found their way in the Storm. The 124.4cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes peak power of 9.78 bhp & 9.60 Nm of peak torque powers the Storm 125. Although, the engine specifications are enough to compete with the segment rivals; the pricing is not.

Aprilia demoted the SR 160 chassis with puny 12-inch tyres. The Storm is offered with two various variants i.e. the drum brake & the disc brake option. The cited sources hint toward the hefty price tag to be the main reason behind the discontinuation.

Aprilia Storm 125 is priced at Rs 1.06 Lakhs for the drum brake variant. By all means, the price tag is hefty as per the rivals. Whilst the TVS Ntorq 125, Honda Grazia, & Yamaha RayZR 125 offer a mix of all things, the Italian quality is costly when compared to the price standards of the rivals.

The discontinuation is all set to go live from July 1. From then onwards, the Storm 125 will only be available with the drum brake variant. Subsequently, the sibling Vespa is also hinted toward the discontinuation of the disc brake variant.
