BMW CE 02: What Does It Get?

The CE 02's design is something that truly stands out. It just isn't like anything that's out on our roads. We've mentioned this before, but its compact dimensions will remind you of the Honda Navi and the 'Bobby' Rajdoot from back in the day. We reckon it will also be quite fun to ride and easy to cut through in tight traffic as well, but that's something our Editor will answer in detail.

The CE 02 is available in two trims; the standard CE 02, and the Highline. Backed by a 3.92kWh battery pack, the CE 02 covers a claimed range of 108km, and it can be charged via either a 0.9kW charger, or a 1.5kW fast charger. The latter is available only on the Highline trim as an optional extra. BMW has not mentioned charging times for the standard trim. However, the CE 02 Highline can be charged from 20-80% in 1.7 hours via the 1.5kW charger, while a full 0-100% charge takes a claimed 3.3 hours.

BMW CE 02

Powering the CE 02 is a belt-driven electric motor producing 14.7bhp at 5500rpm and 55Nm of torque at 1000rpm, which should give it more than enough grunt for daily city usage and quick overtakes as well. At 795mm, the seat height is very accessible, and a kerb weight of 142kg should also help matters by a fair bit. Built on a double-loop frame, the CE 02 also makes use of USD forks and an offset adjustable monoshock, while braking i taken care of via a 239mm disc with a dual-piston floating calliper up front, and a 220mm disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear.

BMW CE 02

In terms of standard equipment, the CE 02 comes with a 3.5-inch TFT screen with bluetooth connectivity, adjustable brake levers, two ride modes (flow and surf), a keyless system, reverse mode, and a C-type USB charging socket. The optional Highline package comes with an additional 'Flash' ride mode, a multi-colour seat, heated grips, golden forks, and an integrated smartphone holder.

Verdict

The BMW CE 02 is a quirky electric two-wheeler that will help you stand out for sure. It doesn't make sense, but it will be a fun experience to ride one, and more details shall be out in our review soon enough!
