Last Updated on 27th Nov'24: River Mobility has rolled out the first River Indie electric scooter update. The brand has introduced two new colour options for the scooter, Winter White and Storm Grey. Additionally, the brand has added a new chain drive system replacing the old belt drive system. After the new update, the River Indie electric scooter is priced at Rs 1.42 lakh (ex-showroom). It continues to come with a 4kWh battery pack, offering a range of 161 km.

Expert Verdict on Indie
The River Indie certainly stands out in the Indian electric scooter market today, with its styling and focus on practicality. Its ground clearance and build quality also makes it suitable to traverse through bad roads and water-logged areas with not much trouble. However, River’s dealer and service network is still rather small, and the price hike does not do much justice when you consider that the recent update wasn’t all that substantial.

- The Indie’s design treatment is unlike any other electric scooter currently on sale. It gets
a chunky body, and the twin-pod headlamps make it look massive from the front. - It is the only scooter in India to feature front footpegs, which allows riders to enjoy
different riding positions. The 20-inch flat floorboard also keeps things rather
comfortable. - The rear of the scooter also looks just as chunky, with a gloss black panel surrounding
the tail lamp, and it also comes with pre-installed pannier mounts on the side.

- The pre-installed pannier mounts allow you to mount storage boxes, and also carry stuff
at the rear by tying things up with a rope. . - A 43-litre underseat storage space, along with a 12-litre lockable glovebox up front
should be more than enough for an average person’s daily needs. - A specialized phone holder is available as an accessory, which allows you to place your
phone horizontally and use it for navigation, since the 6-inch LCD display screen does
not get on-board connectivity. - The seat of the Indie is quite long and wide, which should be accommodating enough for
most riders, and the 20-inch floorboard should make things further comfortable. - A floorboard cage can also be opted for, which allows you to carry stuff on the floorboard
without the risk of anything falling off. This is where the front footpegs also prove to be
extremely helpful.
