River Indie - Generation 3

Let's jump straight into what's new on this electric scooter. It comes with a new set of tyres for better grip, although the size remains the same at 14 inches. Additionally, there's a new digital screen with more features, including an HD display, clear indication of range and charging information, improved app connectivity offering real-time riding and charging data, and customisable data points. From a safety perspective, hill hold assist has been added. Lastly, River claims that the scooter's dynamics have been improved, a direct response to customer feedback.

So, these were the updates of the new Generation 3. Now, apart from that, there's nothing new - it still comes with a 4 kWh battery pack, a peak power of 9.1 PS, and 6.11 PS of continuous power, with a torque of 26 Nm. There are three ride modes (Eco, Ride, and Rush), and its range is 161 km. The top speed is 90 km/h, and 0 to 40 km/h is done in 3.7 seconds. Moreover, another USP of the Indie is its 12L glovebox and massive 43L underseat storage. To add more, there are two accessories available (grab rail and handlebars), along with 2 USB ports and parking reverse (forward and reverse).
About its price: in Delhi, it costs Rs 1,45,999 (ex-showroom) and Rs 1,46,399 (ex-showroom) in Bengaluru. Visit rideriver.com to check the price in your city.

Verdict
Rather than calling it a generational update, River should call it an "improved version," as these changes come with a facelift. 99% of things are similar; only a few have been improved, and the ride quality has also been enhanced, which we'll have to test to confirm. That said, the Indie is a very special and multipurpose scooter with fantastic storage space as well as impressive range. Lastly, the price has also been increased by Rs 2,000.
