As the Indian automotive industry is striving to find an alternate solution to mobility that would fulfil the agenda of being eco-friendly, many Indian cities lack a decent electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The development of electric charging stations is significantly gaining pace, and the authorities in different corners of the country are contributing to this development. Similarly, the government is ready to float tenders to set up charging stations in Chandigarh.
In order to push the electric vehicle (EV) policy in the Union Territory, Chandigarh, the administration has proposed to float a tender within the upcoming three to four days. With this tender, they plan on inviting enterprises and startups to bid and install one hundred electric charging stations across the city. The results of this tender would be announced within a month, and the company setting up these electric vehicle charging stations would be finalised.

As per the authorities, the tender is being drafted in a way to lure companies and offer competitive pricing to the government. The organisation offering the lowest effective pricing of all the competitors would be given a special preference to allot the tender and would have to complete the setup within two years. The government in the Union Territory of Chandigarh aims to provide this facility at low prices to the public to promote the use of electric vehicles in the city.
