The coronavirus pandemic and the resulting nationwide lockdown has disrupted the business operations completely. India was put under complete lockdown for almost 60 days. The Indian Economy, especially the automobile sector was highly affected. For the first time in history, the Indian automobile sector recorded Zero sales in the month of April 2020. But now, as the Indian Government has initiated Unlock 1.0, the economy has started returning back on the track. Hero MotoCorp has just shared its sales report for the month of June 2020. India's Largest Two-wheeler manufacturer has registered a massive growth in sales in the month of June. Here are some more details about it.

Hero MotoCorp has announced that in the month of June, the company has dispatched over 4,50,744 units of motorcycles and scooters to Hero MotoCorp Dealership across India. If we compare it on month-on-month (MoM) basis, the company has dispatched just around 1,12,682 units in the month of May 2020. Thus, in the month of June, Hero MotoCorp has registered a sequential growth of over four times and a massive growth of over 300 per cent compared to May this year. Also, as the business is going through tough times, it is inappropriate to compare the sales figures with the corresponding month of the previous year.
However, for your knowledge, we would like to mention that in June 2019, Hero MotoCorp sold 6,16,256 units and thus the sales see a dip of around 26.86 per cent in June 2020. Hero MotoCorp says that a major chunk of its sales are currently coming from rural and semi-urban markets as people are now willing to purchase an affordable personal mobility solution. The company applauds the commendable effort by the plant operations, supply chain and strategic sourcing teams as they have been able to ramp up the production rapidly amidst such disruptions to cater to the market demand.

Commenting on the same, Dr Pawan Munjal, Chairman and CEO, Hero MotoCorp said, "We have demonstrated phenomenal leadership quality and tenacity to clock a sharp vertical growth in our sales at a time of massive disruption and uncertainty. This is an overwhelming reiteration of the enduring trust and faith that our customers repose in Brand Hero. Sales of over 4.5 lakh two-wheelers in a highly disrupted month is also a clear signal of the resilience of the Indian economy to be able to revive in the face of any adversity. This has vindicated our strong belief in the robust fundamentals of the Indian economy."
Mr Munjal further added, "A major part of the market demand is emanating from the rural and semi-urban markets, which have been helped to a large extent by the various stimulus packages rolled out by the government. A combination of multiple factors, including the forecast of a normal monsoon, a bumper Rabi crop and the upcoming festive season are expected to keep the momentum going over the next few months." Hero MotoCorp also says that the company has successfully ramped up the production at its eight manufacturing facilities, of which six are in India and two in global markets.

Hero MotoCorp announced that more than 95 per cent of its customer touchpoints are now operational with strict safety measures and protocols in place. Recently, the company also launched its integrated online sales platform called Hero eSHOP. This website allows customers to buy their favourite Hero MotoCorp Motorcycles and Scooters digitally. Moreover, Hero MotoCorp has just launched the highly-anticipated 2020 Hero Xtreme 160R BS6 in India. The Xtreme 160R is available in two variants: Front Disc and Dual Disc with prices starting at Rs. 99,950, Ex-showroom Delhi.
