
In a recent, Honda Cars India has announced that its entire portfolio has been switched to the latest BS6 emission norms. The Japanese carmaker recently launched the updated Amaze in both petrol and diesel disguise. Now, this comes recently as Honda has launched all models with the BS6 petrol engine.
The list of cars sticks to Amaze, City, Civic and CR-V. There have been no details about the Jazz and WR-V. Will they be discontinued? Well, we will find out in a few months. Also, the sales of both these cars aren't well when you see the chart.

Honda Cars India Senior VP and Director, Mr Rajesh Goel expressed his opinion on the transition of BS6, ⬓As communicated earlier, we are ramping up BS6 production, hence, our volumes will be lean in the coming months. We are committed to enhancing the supplies and bringing down the waiting period, which has gone up during this transition to BS6. We are thankful to our entire dealer network for their support in the completion of early sale of the BS4 cars.⬝

Honda has been producing the BS6 models at their plant in Greater Noida and Tapukara. The carmaker has also said that in coming months they will also ramp up the production capacity. Similarly like the Amaze diesel, the carmaker will also bring in diesel engines of other models.
In a recent, Honda Cars India received a major dip in sales when compared to January 2020 to January 2019. The Japanese carmaker saw a decline of 71% in sales. The total number of models sold in Jan 2020 sticks to 5,299 as compared to 18,261 for Jan 2019.

Coming to the transition of fuel from BS4 to BS6, all the manufacturer are bringing in their updated models. It was Maruti Suzuki which decided to pull the plug from diesel engines followed by Tata and Mahindra. The latter of two have decided to stop the production of smaller diesel engines in its portfolio. Honda, Hyundai and Ford will continue to bring in the BS6 diesel engine for both small and bigger cars.
