Hop Electric, the Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer today launched an all-new high-speed variant of its best-selling electric scooter Leo. Priced at Rs. 97,000 (ex-showroom), the environment-friendly two-wheeler comes with a claimed range of up to 120 kilometres on a single charge. Hop Electric Leo New High-Speed Variant: Details

The Leo high-speed model is powered by a 2.1 kWh advanced lithium-ion battery pack mated to a BLDC hub motor, putting out a power output of around 3 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. It comes kitted with an 850 W standard smart charger which is capable of juicing up the battery from 0-80% in 2.5 hours. A total of four riding modes are on offer, namely Eco, Power, and Sport along with a dedicated Reverse mode. The company claims that the electric scooter can climb a slope angle of up to 12 degrees.

Braking duties are taken care of by a disc both at the front as well as rear and the vehicle gets both a combi-brake system and regenerative braking. The two-wheeler sports a ground clearance of 160 mm and its loading capacity is rated at 160 kg. Along with this, the IP 67/65 ratings make it waterproof and dustproof.

In terms of features, the Leo high-speed variant gets LCD digital display and a 3rd party GPS tracker can be opted for as an optional extra. The electric scooter's colour palette includes a total of 5 shades, i.e. Black, White, Grey, Blue and Red.

Verdict: Diversifying the line-up is always a good strategy as it helps to increase the chances of a customer purchasing the product, as one of the multiple products on offer could likely suit the buyer's requirements. The new Hop Leo high-speed variant seems a promising product, both in terms of pricing as well as specifications. However, the sale of electric scooters depends on multiple factors and it will be interesting to see how the customers respond to this new product.
