Simple Wave Launched at Rs 1.09 Lakh: Range, Features And More

The Simple Energy has officially taken the wraps off Simple Wave in India. Its first family-focused model from Simple and priced at Rs. 1.09 lakh, ex-showroom. The Wave comes in three variants: Wave S, Wave and Wave+, spread across six models with different battery packs, displays and IDC range. Simple Energy is positioning the Wave against the Ather Rizta, Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube.

The scooter also brings a segment-leading 70-litre storage capacity, split across an under-seat compartment, a 3-litre glove box and an all-new 4-litre Pill storage, an industry-first auxiliary compartment. It has India's longest seat too, at 920mm. This marks Simple Energy's biggest push into the mainstream family scooter space.

Simple Wave Design

Simple Wave

The design of the Simple Wave draws inspiration from a dolphin. It looks rounder and softer rather than the sportier Simple One. Positioned as a family scooter, comfort looks a clear focus for its engineers. The seat measures 920mm, the longest in India. Seat height is set at 775mm, keeping it accessible for most riders.

Ground clearance stands at 175mm. Gradeability is rated at 20 degrees. The scooter also gets a 300mm water-wading capability, useful during monsoons. It's built on a tubular steel frame, with a 1,347mm wheelbase and a payload capacity of 150kg.

Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic front fork and twin adjustable rear shocks. Braking comes from a front disc and rear drum setup, backed by a Combined Braking System (CBS). Wheels are set at 12 inches on both ends.

Storage is a clear highlight on the Wave. Riders get up to 70 litres of total space. This includes a 63-litre under-seat compartment, a 3-litre glove box, and the new Pill storage with 4 litres of space, accessible through the keyhole. The scooter also gets ambient lighting and a boot light for use after dark.

Simple Wave Battery, Range And Charging

Battery capacity changes across the six-model lineup. The entry-level Wave S EBN uses a 2.2 kWh pack. The higher Wave S variants (TFT and EBN) get a 2.7 kWh pack. The Wave, in both TFT and EBN guise, steps up to a 3.7 kWh pack. The range-topping Wave+ gets a 5 kWh battery, the biggest in its segment, delivering 243 km IDC range and 179 Nm of wheel torque.

The battery pack and motor carry an IP67 rating, protecting against water and dust. The range-topping model supports fast charging, taking the battery from 0 to 80 percent in 2 hours 15 minutes. A 750W portable charger is also offered for convenient charging at home.

Simple Wave Motor Power

Barring the base Wave S EBN, which runs a 4.5 kW motor, the rest of the Simple Wave lineup uses a 6.4 kW PMSM motor. Notably, it's rare-earth free, making Simple Energy the first Indian OEM to commercially produce such a motor at scale.

Performance stays strong despite the family-focused positioning. The Wave+ delivers a top speed of 90 km/h. Drive comes via a chain, rather than a hub or belt setup. Riders get multiple riding modes across the range, namely Ride, Eco and ECOX, with higher variants adding a Sport mode as well.

Simple Wave Features

Higher variants of the Wave lineup come loaded with convenience features. These include a Crawl mode for slow, tight manoeuvring, hill hold assist to stop the scooter rolling back on inclines, a dedicated reverse mode, traction control, regenerative braking and vehicle tracking.

Display options also vary by variant. TFT-equipped models get a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, GPS tracking, call and music control, and USB charging. EBN variants make do with a simpler 5-inch display. Over-the-air updates are offered across the range, meaning new features can arrive after purchase, without a service visit. Lighting is full-LED throughout, covering the headlamp, DRLs, taillamp and turn indicators.

Simple Energy has positioned the Wave S as the value option. The standard Wave is likely to be the volume seller. The Wave+ sits at the top, aimed at buyers who want maximum range and the full feature set.

Simple Wave Price

Simple Energy has launched the Wave at an introductory price starting from Rs. 1,09,999, ex-showroom. This would put it in direct competition with the Ather Rizta and Bajaj Chetak. The price is competitive compared to other brands. The Simple Wave will rival the TVS iQube as well.

Bookings are now open across all Simple Energy touchpoints and on its website. Deliveries are scheduled to begin from the last week of September 2026.
