Vehicle Tyres To Get Star Ratings For Mileage & Quality - Read Details

Vehicle tyres will soon get ratings based on their construction. The new rating system will cater to improvements in quality & mileage of tyres.

The tyre manufacturers in India will soon start making vehicle tyres with safety ratings. These safety ratings of the tyres will help the customers to know the mileage and quality ratio of the tyres. The plan of introducing rating associated tyres in India is near to execution. The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) is already in talks with the industry manufacturers.

According to the ARAI, the tyres will be divided into three different categories. The first is C1 will refer to the personal vehicles, the second being C2 will dedicate to the light goods vehicles, & the C3 category will cater to heavy goods vehicles. The main aim is to reduce the rate of accidents by increasing the safety of tyres.

The new rating system will pay attention to improving the tyre grip, saving more fuel, generating less noise, and protecting the vehicle from slippage. With the varying ratings, the costs of tyres will also vary. This means that a 5-star rated will offer more fuel economy and quality but it will be costly as compared to a 3-star rated tyre. Also, the 5-star tyres are anticipated to save fuel up to 15 percent more than the regular tyres sold currently pan India.

The current tyres are sold over the BIS standards. The BIS standards are getting outdated as they fail to ensure the safety of tyres. Also, the customers are not able to get exact information regarding the tyres currently. The new star rating system will help customers to make sound choices for enhanced safety & fuel economy as well. This system will also help wipe out the defective tyres being supplied in the market knowingly.

The star rating system for tyres is being followed in the European countries since 2016. Currently, the Ceat tyres remain the only manufacturers in India that provide the tyres with safety ratings. The fuel-economical FuelSmart series & the SecureDrive series tyres from Ceat offer the customer's star ratings.
