Should I buy the Aera?
The Matter Aera offers a unique experience for an electric motorcycle. The claimed range is decent, and in real-world conditions, it will provide around 110 km to 120 km in eco mode. This range makes it suitable for city commuting. The geared experience offers a different feel compared to other electric bikes, and if you're open to that, the Matter Aera is a good option in its segment. It provides good features and a reasonable range.
- The Matter Aera features a design similar to a naked motorcycle, with a sharp headlamp assembly that includes a projector LED headlamp and sleek side shrouds with integrated turn signals. The overall front fascia looks sporty and aggressive, giving it a distinctive appearance. The fuel tank area, which also serves as a storage compartment, is neatly integrated to accommodate the onboard charger cable. Behind this compartment, the onboard charging port is located and covered by a magnetic cover.
- The side profile includes parts made of plastic, with multiple graphics and decals. The panels fit well, although some gaps are visible in certain areas. The motorcycle has a split seat setup and a split pillion grab rail, enhancing its sporty appeal. The rear features an LED taillamp that looks appealing, and when you press the brake, a center light with Matter branding illuminates. The rear turn signals are mounted on the rear mudguard and number plate recess, with these being sequential turn signals.
- The Aera 5000 is available in two colors: Cosmic Black and Cosmic Blue. Meanwhile, the Aera 5000+ comes in five color options: Cosmic Black, Cosmic Blue, Glacier White, Blaze Red, and Nord Grey.

- The Aera 5000 and 5000+ come packed with a variety of features. The base model, Aera 5000, features a single-channel ABS, a 7-inch touchscreen instrument console, a 4G-enabled eSIM, park assist, a range assistant, welcome lights, vacation mode, navigation, and basic ride statistics, among other amenities. However, this variant does not include connectivity with the MatterVerse app.
- On the other hand, the Aera 5000+ offers enhanced connectivity and telematics. It supports Bluetooth connectivity for music streaming, SMS, and call control, as well as push navigation support from your phone, advanced ride statistics, and a "find my vehicle" feature, among other smart connectivity options. Both variants share features such as park assist, single-channel ABS, LED lighting, keyless start and go, and remote key lock and unlock.
- In terms of hardware, the Aera features a double cradle frame, telescopic front forks, dual spring shocks at the rear, a 270 mm front petal disc brake, and a 220 mm rear disc brake. It is equipped with 100/80 17-inch front and 130/70 17-inch rear tubeless tires. The motorcycle boasts a ground clearance of 183 mm, a seat height of 790 mm, and a weight of 168 kg.
- The Matter Aera is powered by a 5 kWh battery pack that offers an IDC-claimed range of 172 km on a single charge. It uses a PMSM motor with a peak power output of 11.5 kW. This is the first motorcycle in the segment to feature a 4-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch. The motorcycle also comes with inbuilt active liquid cooling to ensure better thermal management of the battery pack.
- The Matter Aera 5000 and 5000+ support both onboard charging and DC fast charging. It comes with a 1kW onboard charger that can charge the battery from 0 to 100% in approximately 6 hours. With a 3kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in under 1.5 hours, and from 0 to 100% in under 2 hours. The onboard charger can be plugged into any 5A household socket, while the DC fast charger requires a 15A socket.
